The Interventional Radiology Technologist I assists physicians in the performance of diagnostic and / or therapeutic procedures by preparing the patient and operating the x-ray equipment in order to obtain diagnostic images.
Responsibilities:
* Receives, relays, and documents verbal, written, and electronic orders.
* Prepares patient for procedure and assumes responsibility for patient needs during procedures.
* Demonstrates understanding of human anatomy, pathology, physiology, and medical terminology.
* Has knowledge and skills necessary to modify care according to patient's age, condition, and abilities.
* Follows protocols established by licensed practitioner and optimizes technical factors while maximizing patient safety.
* Identifies, prepares, and administers medications, including contrast media, as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
* Performs venipuncture as prescribed by a licensed practitioner.
* Evaluates images for quality and ensures proper recording of accurate patient identification and anatomical laterality.
* Ensures complete examination is performed following protocol.
* Ensures timely review and transfer of images and pertinent clinical information to a licensed practitioner.
* Properly operates electronic medical record (EMR), radiology information system (RIS) and picture archiving and communication system (PACS).
Qualifications:
* Education: High School Diploma or GED, required. 2 Year / Associate Degree, preferred. Graduate of ARRT-approved Radiography Program, required.
* Experience:
* Minimum of one year of experience in Diagnostic Radiology, required.
* Minimum of one year of experience in Interventional Radiology, preferred.
* Licensure/Certification:
* Certified and registered by ARRT in Radiography - RT(R), required.
* IV Credentialed, preferred.
* Applicable state licensure, required.
* Additional Skills Required: Ability to successfully complete generic and department-specific skills validation and competency testing. Thorough knowledge of interventional procedure and activity.
