What you'll be challenged to do:

During your internship, you will work on a highly functioning team and aid in providing design services for a wide variety of projects. You'll receive guidance, supervision and mentorship by experienced engineers and professionals with your success as the goal. The majority of our interns convert to full-time employees.

In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following: 

* Collaborate on real-world freight rail and transit projects.
* Attend project meetings, coordinate with multiple disciplines, and assist in design and development.
* Assist project engineers and project managers in designing track alignment geometry and intermodal facility layouts.
* Perform engineering calculations and do quantity takeoffs.
* Gain exposure to the design process, from concept to construction.
* Maintain a neat and orderly work area.

Qualifications:

What you'll bring to our firm:

* Currently enrolled in an ABET-accredited Civil Engineering program, pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree.
* An open, creative mind that actively engages multiple perspectives to find solutions to unique design challenges.
* Demonstrated interest in transit and railway engineering through prior internship or applied coursework experience.
* Familiarity with MicroStation or AutoCAD and working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
* Self-motivated with a proactive approach to learning.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* Consistently arrives to work, meetings, and other work activities on time.

What we prefer you bring:

* Experience with AutoCAD, MicroStation, or OpenRoads. 
* Familiarity with rail engineering principles and practices.

Compensation:
The salary range for this role is $21.00 - $28.00 per hour. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
