Responsibilities:
* Accompanies assigned Sponsor as needed gain insight into the roles and responsibilities of a healthcare leader; attends meetings, observes the leader in day-to-day interactions, and learns directly from the VMFH leader the skills and knowledge needed in order to perform in a healthcare leadership capacity.
* Attends a wide variety of interdisciplinary team/committee meetings to observe management-level decision-making and problem-solving activities, explain analyses/findings/ recommendations and make formal presentations.
* Provides support on varied and complex special projects as assigned by the Sponsor or designee; documents activities and may prepare a variety of reports and other materials relating to project issues/status/accomplishments; creates specific deliverables to meet goals that have been mutually agreed upon with the Sponsor. Project facilitation may involve working with various level of staff, physicians, community members and vendor organizations.
* Demonstrates proper use of communication tools/materials for effective communication and understands how the culture(s) of patient populations can affect communication, collaboration and the provision of care, treatment and services.
* Demonstrates knowledge and proper skills associated with the department's defined specific populations served
Qualifications:
Education/Work Experience Requirements
Candidates for this position must be actively engaged in attaining an Undergraduate or Graduate degree relevant to the service line area to which they are assigned. Candidates must be enrolled in this internship program via the Degrees of Change Seed Internship Program.
Job Knowledge/Abilities
* Ability to convey information effectively in verbal and written communication, and through group/business presentations.
* Ability to understand financial and/or operational reports, conduct complex analyses, analyze data, and recommend improvement opportunities.
* Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as required by the duties of the position.
* Ability to use office equipment and automated systems/applications/software at an acceptable level of proficiency.
