We have an exciting opportunity for an intern on our Development Team. As an intern supporting our Heart Ball, you will play a key role in driving the success of this impactful campaign. Your responsibilities will include a variety of tasks that contribute to the planning, execution, and follow-up of these life-saving initiatives.  

The American Heart Association's Internship Program provides college students an opportunity for hands-on experience in various facets for individuals interested in gaining work experience with a non-profit, voluntary health organization.

Internship Overview:

Time Commitment: 20 hours per week

Internship Duration: 9/8/25 - 12/5/25

Location: Hybrid Position - Intern must be based in the Greater San Francisco Bay Area

Salary: $23.00 per hour

Internship Outcomes:

Responsibilities:

Event Planning & Support:

* Assist with the planning, coordinating, and executing pre-event logistics, and on-site event management for multiple community events.

Event Participant Outreach & Engagement: 

* Conduct pre-event outreach to attendees and conduct follow-up calls to guests and participants.

Sponsor Support: 

* Assist with sponsor presentation preparation and gathering materials for sponsor follow-up after meetings, helping to maintain relationships with key stakeholders.

Identify Prospects:

* The intern will identify potential donor prospects by researching individuals and corporations. This involves using various online and offline resources to gather information on these prospects. 

Data & Reporting: 

* Assist with pulling reports, data entry, and organizing event-related information to track progress and outcomes.

Administrative Support:

* Assist with administrative tasks such as preparing printed materials, assembling thank-you cards, and organizing event supplies.

Qualifications:

* Candidates who are seniors or graduate students pursuing a degree in business, communications, public relations, nonprofit fundraising, or event management.
* Experience/interest in promotion, sales, or fundraising.
* Demonstrated excellence in written communication skills. 
* Demonstrated skills in effective one-on-one and group communications and comfort with working professionally with all levels of community leaders, volunteers, and staff.
* Effective oral and presentation communication skills.
* Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, managing multiple priorities involving multiple entities.
* Intermediate to excellent proficiency in MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
* Basic knowledge of Canva.
* Required Equipment: Reliable WiFi Connection and reliable transportation.
* Minimum availability of 20 hrs/wk, M-F between the hours of 8:30am-5pm.
* Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship, now or in the future.  For any roles working remotely, the work must also be performed inside the United States, not in a foreign country.
