Responsibilities:
As an Information Security Engineer (Information Security Officer)you will be responsible for protecting an organization's information systems and data from unauthorized access, attacks, and breaches. This role also requires working in coordination with the various information technology directors and managers. This position will be onsite at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College (Harrison County Campus) and reports to the Chief Information Officer.
Where you will make an impact
Security Planning and Implementation:
* Develop, implement, and update security policies, procedures, and standards.
* Additions/removals/changes to be presented to the Technology Council for review.
* Design and implement security measures to safeguard information systems and data.
* Be a Liaison with college Administrative Services on cybersecurity insurance coverages.
Vulnerability Management:
* Conduct regular vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify and address potential weaknesses in the organization's systems and applications.
* Provide monthly executive summaries to the CIO.
Incident Response:
* Respond to and investigate security incidents, breaches, and vulnerabilities.
* Develop and maintain an approved incident response plan.
Security Awareness and Training:
* Maintain security awareness programs to educate employees about security policies and best practices.
* Maintain a phishing simulation program for college employees on a monthly basis.
* Provide training to staff on cybersecurity topics through the college Employee Development Program (EDP).
Access Control:
* Manage user access privileges and permissions, including MFA.
* Implement and enforce access control policies.
* Maintain approved roles and permissions security groups based on employee position code.
Network Security:
* Monitor and analyze network traffic for security incidents.
* Manage firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, and other network security devices and applications.
* Manage operating system and application patch management cycle.
* Manage desktop security compliance and patch management cycle.
Security Auditing and Compliance:
* Conduct regular security audits to ensure compliance with industry regulations and standards.
* Stay informed about changes in security regulations and standards.
* Conduct roles and permissions audits annually for college applications.
Security Monitoring:
* Monitor security alerts and incidents; participate in incident response activities.
* Utilize security information and event management (SIEM) tools to analyze and respond to security events.
What you will bring
* At least 5 years of experience in an enterprise environment
* Strong understanding of Microsoft Active Directory, Virtualized Server farms (VMWare), Azure Cloud including Azure AD, IaaS, and security, networking, and firewall technologies
* Experience writing cybersecurity policies, such as incident response plans, security programs, identity management, etc.
* Strong understanding of industry trends and standards. Strong end-user orientation and Strong work ethic
* Solid organizational skills, ability to work with staff, faculty, and administration at all skill and management levels.
* "Can do" attitude and exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
* Is able to work independently with minimal supervision in a technically diverse and rapidly changing while maintaining existing legacy systems
Extra Credit
* Certifications such as Security+, CISSP, CISA, VMWare, HP and Dell server hardware, and Cisco networking are a PLUS to have (NOT required)
* Experience with Microsoft Active Directory, LINUX, Tomcat Web Services, Single Sign On (SSO), and Multi-Factor Authentication is required
* Experience with Emerging technologies, e.g. Artificial Intelligence, blockchain, and cybersecurity policy writing, is a PLUS to have (NOT required)
