Overview:
GDC IT Solutions is currently seeking an Information Assurance and Security Specialist to work in a hybrid capacity, with 3 days on-site per week at the Office of the Chief Financial Officer (OCFO) in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area. This position requires candidates to reside within commuting distance of the DMV region and offers an opportunity to contribute to a dynamic IT infrastructure environment focused on security, compliance, and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities:
* Monitor and maintain daily operations of IT infrastructure security systems.
* Perform vulnerability and risk assessments across servers, workstations, and networked environments.
* Identify, report, and resolve security violations, ensuring adherence to security policies and compliance standards.
* Develop, implement, and enforce security policies, procedures, and technical standards.
* Support firewall, server, and desktop patching and upgrades to ensure security integrity (Windows Server 2008/2012/2016, Windows 7/10).
* Analyze and define security requirements and implement system security architecture solutions.
* Log analysis of Firewall, AD, Switches, and other security tools.
* Assist with production support, system troubleshooting, and Tier I/II support for desktops, servers, and applications.
* Plan and coordinate security-related infrastructure projects.
* Recommend enhancements for system security and preventive maintenance strategies.
* Integrate vulnerability management tools (e.g., Nessus, Tripwire) and ensure systems comply with OCFO mandates.
* Apply NIST 800-53 and other federal security standards to ongoing projects (if applicable).
Qualifications:
* 6-10 years of experience with security policy development and compliance enforcement.
* 6-10 years of experience performing system and application vulnerability/risk analyses.
* 6-10 years of experience identifying, reporting, and resolving IT security violations.
* Experience with patching Windows servers (2008/2012/2016) and desktop environments (Windows 7/10).
* Hands-on experience with Cisco Next-Generation Firewalls (NGFW).
* Strong experience with VMware 5.5/6.0 infrastructure management.
* Proven experience with server and desktop troubleshooting.
* Production support and monitoring expertise in enterprise environments.
* Bachelor's degree in IT or a related field or equivalent experience.
