Position Overview:

The Infection Preventionist (IP) is responsible for planning, implementing, and sustaining infection prevention programs across healthcare facilities. Under moderate supervision, they prevent, identify, investigate, report, and control infections throughout the continuum of care.

What You Can Expect:

* Hours:  Full Time/Exempt Days (Mon - Fri from 8:00am-5:00pm) with rotating on-call
* Location:  Primarily based at St. Luke's Magic Valley with travel to Jerome and Wood River.
* Apply epidemiologic principles to monitor, investigate, and recommend infection control practices.
* Lead or assist in outbreak investigations and interdisciplinary improvement teams.
* Utilize technology for trend analysis, system validation, and accurate data reporting.
* Provide education, develop programs, and conduct IP assessments and rounding.
* Collaborate with local, state, and federal public health agencies.
* Advocate for safe practices, conduct risk assessments, and drive behavior change.
* Participate in research and quality improvement projects, sharing findings through various channels.

Qualifications:

* Education: Bachelor's degree/BSN or experience in lieu of degree
* Experience: 2 years of experience as a Registered Nurse, Clinician, Infection Preventionist, and/or quality related professional in a hospital setting preferred
* Licenses/Certifications: Registered Nurse license and Certified Infection Prevention (CIC) highly preferred
* Skills/Knowledge:  Knowledge of infection prevention principles, data analysis, and regulatory standards; effective communication, collaboration, and leadership skills

Responsibilities:

Under moderate supervision, the Infection Preventionist (IP) 2 plans and implements infection prevention programs and practices. Responsible for the prevention, identification, investigation, reporting, and control of infections for any designated healthcare facility, clinic or service line throughout the continuum of care. 

* Applies solid understanding of epidemiologic principles; assists and may lead outbreak investigations; conducts monitoring/observations (e.g. surveillance) to make recommendations; creates educational programs to meet the needs and learning style of the audience; identify cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization best practices; and conduct IP assessments and rounding.

* Applies solid understanding in use of technology to identify trends. Validate systems to ensure data accuracy.

* May lead interdisciplinary quality improvement teams. Uses data and statistical technique for recommendations. Performs risk assessments and prioritization and development of action plans.

* Advocates for safe practice and policies. Collaborates to influence behavior change to improve IP practices. Consults and collaborates with local, state, and federal public health organizations.

* Reviews and critiques research findings to determine whether to implement findings. Participates in research and quality improvement projects. Disseminates findings through practice, education, or consultation.
*  

* As applicable, applies clinical knowledge and expertise to facilitate program goals and to address infection prevention opportunities.
*  

* Responsible for collaborating to promote, implement, and sustain effective infection prevention strategies.
*  

* Possesses competent/solid working knowledge of subject matter.
*  

* Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
