Job Summary: 

The Indirect Purchasing Analyst I is an entry-level position responsible for supporting indirect procurement activities at Panasonic Energy Corporation of North America (PECNA). This role focuses on learning purchasing processes, managing data accuracy, and supporting purchase order execution across various indirect spend categories such as MRO, facilities, office equipment, and services. Under close supervision, the Analyst I assists in creating and managing requisitions and purchase orders, tracking deliveries, resolving order discrepancies, and ensuring compliance with procurement policies. This position serves as a foundational role for growth within the purchasing and supply chain organization.

Essential Duties:

Procurement Operations:

* Create and maintain purchase requisitions and purchase orders in SAP or other ERP systems
* Monitor open purchase orders and follow up with suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure on-time delivery
* Support invoice issue resolution by coordinating with Accounts Payable and vendors
* Maintain accurate procurement data and documentation for compliance and audit readiness

Supplier Communication & Coordination:

* Schedule meetings and record communications with suppliers related to order status or delivery issues
* Request basic documentation (e.g., W-9s, tax forms, supplier onboarding paperwork) and ensure completion
* Assist in collecting and filing order confirmations, shipping notices, and tracking information

Data Management & Reporting:

* Maintain purchasing logs and spreadsheets to track procurement activity and performance
* Assist in generating routine reports on purchasing activity, open orders, and delivery schedules
* Help monitor inventory replenishment needs for indirect categories in coordination with internal teams

Stakeholder Support:

* Respond to internal stakeholder requests for order status, item availability, or procurement timelines
* Collaborate with team members to ensure purchasing actions align with department requirements and budgets
* Support internal process documentation and updates to standard operating procedures

Policy & Process Compliance:

* Learn and adhere to company procurement policies, purchasing approval workflows, and system controls
* Participate in continuous improvement efforts by identifying opportunities to streamline purchasing processes

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Requirements:

* To ensure health and safety in the workplace and for employee protection, wearing PPE is a possibility and includes equipment such as a full Tyvek suit, safety shoes, gloves, safety glasses, face mask, and a full hazmat suit that includes a respirator. A respirator fit test will be required based on functional area.

Qualifications:

Requirements - Required and/or Preferred:

Education:

* Required: Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or related field
* Preferred: Internship or co-op experience in a manufacturing, procurement, or supply chain setting

Essential Qualifications

* 0 - 2 years of experience in supply chain, logistics, or purchasing
* Strong Excel and data entry skills
* Eagerness to learn procurement systems (e.g., SAP)
* Strong communication and organizational abilities
* Must have working-level knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English
* Alignment to Panasonic's seven (7) core principles (contribution to society, fairness and honesty, cooperation and team spirit, untiring effort for improvement, courtesy and humility, adaptability, gratitude)

Preferred Qualifications:

* Experience with indirect procurement in a manufacturing, automotive, or high-tech environment
* Familiarity with procurement KPIs or sustainability practices
* Exposure to lean manufacturing or Six Sigma environments
* Experience working in ERP systems or purchasing platforms
* Self-starter with a proactive approach to learning and problem solving
* Experience working with global teams or offshore suppliers
* Bilingual proficiency in English and Japanese, with the ability to support cross-cultural communication

Preferred Certification(s):

* Introductory supply chain or project management certifications such as APICS coursework or CAPM (Certified Associate in Project Management)
* Interest in pursuing CPSM, CSCP, or Lean Six Sigma certifications
