 Human Resources Coordinator

Full Time

The HR Coordinator (HRC) is the on-site HR specialist who provides a broad range of HR support to our inpatient rehab hospital based in beautiful Lakeway, Texas. The HRC supports about 170 managers, employees, agency and contract staff working in the facility, which comprises 36 patient beds as well as a day neuro center and wound care clinic. These entities are accredited by both the Joint Commission and CARF, recognizing our commitment to high quality patient care. The HRC reports to the Director of Human Resources for the Baylor Scott & White Rehab organization and also has a dotted line reporting relationship to the CEO of the Lakeway facility.

Responsibilities:

It's never the same day twice in HR, but the HRC role involves a combination of the usual suspects (engagement and retention, performance management, employee relations, succession planning, candidate selection, and fundamental compensation and benefits knowledge). In general, the HRC job duties include:

* Maintaining a strong working knowledge of HR policies and procedures; educating managers and employees to ensure appropriate understanding and application of such policies and procedures and providing timely communication of related changes or additions.
* Collecting, tracking, analyzing and disseminating relevant HR data to managers, corporate HR support and/or regulatory entities as appropriate.
* Serving as a liaison to new hires in all steps of the pre-employment process; working with the OPS HR Manager and the rest of the BSW Rehab HR team to identify and address problems along the pre-employment continuum.
* Providing support and guidance to employees seeking assistance with benefit related questions.
* Participating in the performance management process by ensuring employees are: (a) oriented appropriately to their positions, (b) tracking orientation, competencies, 90-day evaluations and annual evaluations to ensure completion
* Assisting in Joint Commission and CARF survey readiness to ensure employee files contain mandatory items, track, verify, and update BLS information and clinical licensure information
* Ensuring that accurate, timely information is provided to employees and/or tracked by HR regarding employee benefits administration, including eligibility criteria, coverage, costs, plan changes, enrollment/re-enrollment requirements, leaves of absence (including FMLA, personal and military), work injuries, and termination of coverage.
* Assisting in gathering and communicating HR-related data to employees and managers.
* Maintaining and auditing employment files and related documentation (e.g., I-9s, licensure, etc.) to ensure consistent compliance to regulatory and legal standards.
* Supporting and/or directly administering the process of reviewing and reporting payroll data each bi-weekly pay period.

The HRC also frequently works with the BSW Rehab team on projects and education on tools and resources.

Qualifications:

We're looking for a strong, strategic HR Coordinator to become part of a multi-disciplinary team that works hard, produces great results, and collaborates with the rest of the HR team. Specifically, the ideal candidate will have:

* At least 2 years of hands-on involvement in a broad range of HR functions working within a hospital or other healthcare enterprise.
* A bachelor's degree, preferably in HR but we'll consider other fields of study if we believe they're relevant to what we do; if you don't have a bachelor's degree yet but have strong HR experience, we'll consider you, too.
* Exceptional communications skills - oral and written - that enable you to get the right message across (even if it's a tough message) to anyone at any level in the organization and have them still like working with you.
* A passion for doing things right - the credibility of our team rests on our ability make sure things work the way they're supposed to because of our efforts.
* An openness to learning (new things or new ways of doing old things) and minimal fear of change.
* A commitment to being a role model in ethical behavior and a genuine desire to make your piece of the world a better place.
* An understanding that HR's role is to confidently advocate for the right thing in a way that balances the needs of our employees, our patients and our organization.
* Enough confidence in yourself and trust in your teammates to own it when you've made a mistake so we can work together to figure out how to fix it for good.
* A better-than-average understanding of HR and administrative systems - another gold star if you're tech savvy and can quickly learn new systems or tools.
* A willingness to bring your best efforts and attitude every day - the past two years of COVID have made live a little harder for everyone, including our HR teammates, so it helps to be able to maintain a positive and supportive mindset even when you're crazy busy.
* A fun, slightly whacky sense of humor - if you can't laugh in HR, you're not trying hard enough. And our team loves to have fun together while we're working very hard to support our employees and managers.
