RS&H is excited to invite you to join our dynamic and expanding team in Houston, Texas as the Highway Discipline Leader. This role offers an exciting opportunity to advance your career by leading RS&H's successful and growing highway design team in Houston to deliver large-scale transportation design projects while helping expand RS&H's presence in Texas.

As the Highway Discipline Leader in Houston, you will lead and mentor our energetic highway design team, manage complex transportation design projects, manage client relationships, grow your team, deliver creative and innovative solutions to clients, and support the firm's business development efforts. You will be given the reins to oversee all aspects of the successful delivery of projects, including contract management, managing production teams, quality assurances, and financial performance.

Your Role & Responsibilities:

* Autonomy & Leadership: With the support of your fellow employee owners, including company leadership, and direct access to a comprehensive learning and development program, you will lead the local highway design team while serving as a senior project manager on large, complex transportation projects. You will oversee and mentor multi-disciplined teams and ensure high-quality project outcomes.
* Team Management & Mentorship: Drawing on your leadership and project experience, you will manage a team of highway engineers as they deliver high-performing service and quality deliverables while supporting their continued growth and development.  
* Client & Team Communication: You will maintain strong client relationships as the client relationship manager and point of contact throughout a project's lifecycle. You will manage all client communications and satisfaction and coordinate with discipline key task leaders, staff, and subconsultants to ensure seamless project execution and collaboration. You'll perform regular quality control checks on deliverables, developing, monitoring, and meeting schedules and budgets for projects.
* Business Development: You'll leverage your connections and experience to identify project opportunities, lead the development of proposals, and select strong teaming partners to win work. You'll engage in industry events with the team, promote your collective achievements, and network with prospective clients and other industry professionals.
* National Collaboration: With RS&H's focus on flexibility and work sharing, you will collaborate with multi-disciplined teams on projects that directly impact Houston and bring positive momentum to the vibrant growth and development in the state. In addition, you will access RS&H's extensive nationwide footprint to broaden your experience, connect to a supportive network of incredible talent, and share knowledge and insights to improve our business.  

What You Need to Succeed: 

* Professional Engineering License: You are a licensed professional engineer in Texas, or can obtain reciprocity within six months, holding a bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a similar discipline from an ABET-accredited university.
* Experience: You bring 10+ years of progressive leadership experience, managing and mentoring large multi-disciplined teams working on complex projects with a construction value of   $20M.
* Project & Team Management: You have project management experience with conventional and design-build projects relating to intersections, arterials, interstates, and interchanges for TxDOT and Texas municipal clients.
* Local Expertise: You have project experience in Texas, which has taught you policies and procedures associated with managing highway design, alternative delivery, and/or general engineering contracts for TxDOT.
* Client Partnership: You understand your client's goals, provide thoughtful options, advise on challenging decisions, and act as a reliable partner, proactively communicating to address challenges before they arise.
* Organizational Skills & Focus on Quality: You are dedicated to delivering industry-leading products and ensuring effective quality control processes. Your incredible organizational skills and attention to detail support your quality control/management. Your approach of focused multitasking and prioritization is crucial for your effective management of the team and projects.
* Technical Proficiency: You have excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite for day-to-day operations, including emails, budgeting, and presentations. You also have enough skills and knowledge of MicroStation, Bentley Open Roads Designer (ORD), PS&E package development, and/or Corridor Modeling to review others' work and offer suggestions.
* Communication Skills: With excellent written and verbal communication skills, you can market yourself and RS&H to potential new clients, staff, and consultant or contractor partners.
