				Overview:

The House Staff is a resident physician of a hospital (the "house"), usually in a medical or surgical specialty, caring for patients under the direction of an attending physician.

The House Staff shall provide patient care commensurate with their level of experience, competence and per this job description, under the supervision of appropriately credentialed Attending of the One Brooklyn Health Medical Staff.

Responsibilities:

* Manage patients under supervision during placements in Medicine, Surgical Services, Orthopedics, and Psychiatry services. 
* Perform daily inpatient rounds and rotational duties in ER and Medical/Surgical floors. 
* Function independently responding to emergencies throughout OBH. 
* Providing safe, effective, and compassionate patient care. 
* Documentation of care by appropriate and prompt maintenance of medical records, orders, and notes. 
* Developing an understanding of ethical, socioeconomic, and medical/legal issues and cost containment measures in the provision of patient care.

Qualifications:

Education:

* Graduate of a medical school accredited by the Council on Medical Education.
* Participated in an accredited residency program or have equivalent training acceptable to the Department.

Knowledge and Skills:

* Ability to fully utilize Brookdale's electronic record systems, equipment and other healthcare and billing systems relevant to this position.

Licenses, Certifications:

* Unrestricted New York State Medical License required.
* Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
* Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification required.

Physical Requirements:

* Able to lift 100 pounds, if necessary, to assist lifting and moving patients.
* Able to lift 10 pounds for routine performance of essential functions.
* An individual in this position may be exposed to: Adverse indoor and outdoor environmental conditions, Blood borne pathogens, Physical hazards (e.g., needle pricks, etc.), and Chemical hazards.
