The HAMS (Hospital Aseptic Management System) Cleaning Supervisor is an on-site leader responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and infection-free hospital environment. This role oversees all hospital housekeeping operations to ensure compliance with strict medical cleaning protocols, infection control measures, and OSHA safety regulations. Working in an expeditionary Level 2+ medical facility overseas, the supervisor ensures that cleaning staff follow best practices to prevent the spread of infectious diseases and hospital-acquired infections. This position demands strong leadership, attention to detail, and the ability to train and manage a multicultural team in a high-risk, austere environment.

Responsibilities:

This position description is subject to change at any time as needed to meet the requirements of the program or company.

* Supervise daily cleaning and disinfection of hospital facilities (wards, clinics, operating rooms, etc.) to maintain a sterile environment and prevent infectious spread.

* Train housekeeping staff in proper medical cleaning protocols - including use of PPE, correct chemical disinfectants, biohazard waste disposal - and supervise their daily performance.

* Develop and implement cleaning schedules and checklists for all areas (patient rooms, surgical suites, laboratories, common areas), ensuring no area is overlooked and all tasks are completed on time.

* Ensure strict compliance with infection control guidelines and hospital aseptic procedures, including isolation precautions for infectious patients (e.g. use of N95 respirators and dedicated equipment).

* Monitor and inspect the quality of cleaning services regularly, promptly addressing any deficiencies or complaints and documenting corrective actions.
* Manage inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment; ensure all cleaning chemicals are used and stored according to OSHA safety standards (e.g. Hazard Communication Standard for Chemical Hazards).

* Coordinate with medical staff and facility management to respond quickly to spills, environmental hazards, or urgent cleaning needs, maintaining patient and staff safety at all times.

* Maintain records and reports on cleaning activities, staff training, and compliance audits to meet contract requirements and healthcare accreditation standards.

Qualifications:

* QUALIFICATIONS
* High School diploma or equivalent education. Additional training in housekeeping management, environmental services, or infection control.
* 3+ years of experience in hospital housekeeping or janitorial services, including at least 1 year in a supervisory role.
* Knowledge of hospital infection control practices and cleaning standards, including proper use of disinfectants and aseptic techniques to break the chain of infection.
* Familiarity with OSHA safety regulations related to housekeeping (e.g. chemical handling, bloodborne pathogen precautions, etc.) and ability to enforce safe work practices.
* Fluent in English (written and spoken); able to clearly communicate instructions and reports. (Knowledge of Arabic or other local language is a plus for liaising with local national staff).
* Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to train, mentor, and supervise a diverse team of cleaning personnel.
* Attention to detail and organizational skills to ensure no detail is missed in maintaining cleanliness. Basic computer skills for email, reporting, and documentation.

* PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AND CERTIFICATIONS

* Certification in Healthcare Environmental Services or Hospital Housekeeping (e.g., Certified Healthcare Environmental Services Professional - CHESP).
* Prior experience working in an overseas military hospital or high-risk environment. Experience with expeditionary or field hospital conditions.
* Formal training in infection control or Hospital Aseptic Management Systems (HAMS) procedures. Any HAMS-specific training or certifications.
* OSHA 30-hour General Industry safety certification, or other relevant safety training credentials.
* Basic First Aid and CPR/BLS certification (preferred for all staff in a medical facility for emergency preparedness).
* Demonstrated ability to adapt to challenging environments and cultural sensitivity when working with foreign and local national staff.

* Working Conditions:

* Must be capable of working in an extreme weather condition with temperatures exceeding 120 degrees Fahrenheit.

* Indoor and/or outdoor environment with very adverse and harsh conditions (i.e., hot, dry, dusty, desert environment with average temperatures of 30 degrees in the winter and 130 degrees in the summer months).

* Includes some industrial production environment conditions as well.

* Physical Requirements:

* Light work. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for light work.

* Work may require heavy lifting, stooping, climbing, prolonged standing, prolonged sitting, and working with or in areas where a potential could exist for exposure to physical, chemical, or biological agents.

* Employee use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required for some situations. PPE includes, but is not limited to, head, foot, torso, respiratory, vision, and hearing protective devices.

* Must comply with all Fire and Safety Regulations and post policies.
