Responsibilities:
GFT is seeking a Highway/Roadway Project Engineer to join our Transportation group in Fort Worth, TX. This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring regular attendance in our Fort Worth, TX office.

What you'll be challenged to do:
As a Project Engineer, you will contribute to the design and development of roadway and highway projects across Texas. You'll support project execution for clients such as TXDOT, and other area agencies, working under the direction of senior engineers and project managers. You'll take ownership of design tasks, prepare plans and technical documents, support project management activities, and help ensure projects are delivered on time and to quality standards. You'll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and provide guidance to junior staff, while continuing to develop your technical expertise and client-facing experience in transportation infrastructure work.
In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:
Perform engineering design tasks for roadway projects from concept development to final design, including construction support
Develop plans, specifications, cost estimates, reports, and prepare final bid packages
Establish working relationships and contact with client technical staff and project managers
Provide engineering design services on traditional design-bid-build projects and design-build highway projects
Manage and mentor junior engineers on project assignments
Coordinate design activities and meetings between design staff, subconsultants, and client managers
Coordinate the planning, staffing, scheduling, budget management, quality control, of subconsultants and internal technical and support staff
Participating in project decisions regarding technical approaches, cost and scheduling performance
Lead projects and complete tasks within schedule and budget with teams comprised of different disciplines
Project QA/QC
Assist project managers with various other tasks
Qualifications:
What you'll bring to our firm:
Bachelor's degree in civil engineering
Professional Engineer (PE) license in Texas
8-10 years of engineering experience with broad knowledge of transportation design and strong technical skills in highway design
Proficient in MicroStation, OpenRoads, and Microsoft Office
TXDOT design experience
Strong written and verbal communication skills with a collaborative, team-oriented mindset
Compensation:
The salary range for this role is $100,000 - $120,000. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
