Job Summary

The Healthy Living Lead supports the YMCA's mission of strengthening community through healthy living. This position assists in coordinating and delivering wellness, fitness, and healthy-living programs that promote engagement, retention, and overall well-being of YMCA members. The Lead works closely with the Healthy Living Director, wellness instructors, and member services team to ensure high-quality experiences for all participants

Hiring Range: $22.00 - $24.20/hour DOE

Responsibilities:

* Assist with scheduling, registration, and communication for group exercise classes, wellness programs, and special events. 
* Provide on-site support for classes and programs, including participant check-in, equipment setup, and member assistance. 
* Maintain program records, attendance data, and participant evaluations to track engagement and outcomes. 
* Support implementation of evidence-based and chronic disease prevention programs (e.g., Blood Pressure Self-Monitoring, Enhance Fitness, etc.) as assigned.
* Serve as a welcoming, knowledgeable point of contact for members seeking information on programs, equipment, or healthy-living resources. 
* Conduct basic wellness orientations and fitness floor tours for new members. 
* Assist with member outreach and retention efforts through personal follow-ups, program reminders, and success recognition. 
* Support day-to-day operations of the wellness area, including maintaining cleanliness, safety, and equipment organization. 
* Ensure all program materials, signage, and communication boards are up to date. Track inventory of supplies and assist with ordering as needed. 
* Collaborate with YMCA departments (Membership, Aquatics, Youth, etc.) to promote cross-departmental engagement.
* Support community outreach events, health fairs, and other initiatives that align with YMCA healthy-living goals.

All employees and volunteers are responsible for adhering to abuse prevention policies, maintaining appropriate boundaries, completing required training, reporting suspicious or inappropriate behavior, and complying with mandated reporting requirements. 

Responsible for ensuring staff are properly screened, trained, supervised and held accountable to the organization's abuse risk management standards.

Qualifications:

You should be 18 years of age or older and have:

* YMCA Healthy Lifestyles Principles, Foundations of YMCA Group Exercise** or previous YMCA or outside certification
* Twenty-five hours of practical experience as fitness class instructor, or equivalent (6-week instructor training course-shadowing experience).
* One or more years of program management/coordination in health, wellness, fitness or nonprofit setting.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office and comfort with online scheduling or membership systems may be helpful.
* Knowledge of and previous experience with diverse populations (language, culture, race, physical ability, sexual orientation, etc.).
* Ability to speak any language in addition to English may be helpful. 

Preferred Qualifications:

* Current CPR, AED, and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire). 
* Excellent communication, organization, and customer service skills. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings and weekends.
* Must be able to stand, bend, and lift up to 40 lbs as needed to move or adjust equipment.

Physical Requirements:

* Role may require standing, walking, squatting, sitting, typing, bending, reaching, twisting, repetitive hand movements, and driving.
* Hearing must be adequate to perform job duties in person, over the telephone, and in virtual meetings.
* Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English fluently in person, over the telephone, and in virtual meetings.
* Visual acuity must be adequate to perform job duties, including visual examination of information from printed sources and computer screens. 
Must be able to remain stationary in a sitting or standing position up to 95% of the time.
* Must be able to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move anywhere from 5 lbs. - 40 lbs.
* Requires lifting above the shoulders occasionally.
* Requires exposure to communicable diseases, bodily fluids, medical preparations, and other conditions common to a clinic environment.
* Must have the physical ability and dexterity to perform the requisite heath care service. 

Working Conditions:

* This position will spend 25-50% of time in an indoor office environment.  
* Requires driving and other travel occasionally. Travel is primarily local, although some out-of-the-area travel may be expected. 
* Seldomly works in outdoor weather conditions. 
* This position will have frequent supervision. 
* Position may occasionally require some evenings or weekends to meet job requirements.  
* This position is an on-site position at one of the 13 YMCA Branches
