Responsibilities:

* Scan and index documents into the EHR utilizing established policy and procedures to ensure that clinical information is located in the right place, legible, and available for patient care.
* Release PHI utilizing established federal/state regulations and organizational policy and procedures to ensure that the right information is released to the right person/organization.
* Provide excellent customer service for patients and others by utilizing departmental and organizational procedures.
* Engage in team, departmental and organizational VMPS activities, including kaizen events, PDSA and ELIs, as appropriate.
* Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Required: High School diploma

* 6 months' experience in a health information management department or 1 years' experience in an office setting, preferably healthcare related
* Knowledge of medical terminology
* Knowledge of HIPAA regulations, Joint Commission standards and other relevant healthcare documentation standards
* Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
* Strong Interpersonal skills and ability to work well with team members
* Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
* Must be self-directed and able to work with little supervision while maintaining high levels of quality, production and customer service.
Preferred: Associates Degree in Health Information Technology
* All of minimum requirements, plus: Prior experience with electronic health records (Cerner PowerChart),scanning and release of information applications
