Overview:

Working within the remit and targets developed by school management, the Head of KG reports to the Headmaster and contributes to the successful growth and continuous improvement of the school.

The post-holder actively participates in the daily operation of the school's KG school curricular and pastoral dimensions, liaising with subject specialists as required.   He/she delivers an outstanding quality of teaching and learning, upholding and actively promoting our commitment to integrity, accountability and an aspiration for excellence.

Position Objectives
 *To ensure a caring, happy, safe, challenging and structured learning and teaching environment for students and staff
 *Under the direction of the Headmaster, to develop and implement a curriculum for the Early Years section that fulfills the aims and goals of the school and reflects the needs of the students
 *To take responsibility for the day-to-day administration of the KG section, to include timetabling, staffing, deployment of resources, admissions and the development and management of the section budget
 *To demonstrate a strong, confident, hands-on leadership style where time-, personnel- and resource-management are discharged efficiently in an atmosphere of consultation and collaboration, with due regard for the cultural complexities of international education.

You have a strong commitment to quality and sharing best practices in learning and teaching.

 *You have a strong profile and proven track-record of implementing successful literacy and numeracy strategies, especially in an EAL environment.

 *You have a mature understanding of the need for a pastoral infrastructure which supports both academic progress and the development of life skills in children.

 *You have a working knowledge and understanding of planning and reporting. You have a higher-level understanding of and experience using information and communication technology to enhance teaching and learning. 

 *You have an interest in international cultures.  You enjoy working under pressure in a fast paced environment. You're optimistic, resilient, and have a well-developed sense of proportion and humour.

Responsibilities:

The Head of KG oversees the day-to-day operation of the kindergarten, working within the remit and targets developed by  management, and under the direct, day-to-day supervision of the  Headmaster. You will supervise the academic and pastoral functions of the school, and, in conjunction with the school's Operations Manager, manage the organizational and operational functions of the school. 

The Head of KG:

 *implements the kindergarten curriculum, ensuring that the curricular scope and sequence, as well as instructional strategies, reflect our philosophy and objectives;

 *contributes to formulating the school's plans, programs and helps develop budgets;

 *helps align the use of resources (time, people, funding) to the schools' academic and financial performance targets. Identifies and recommends cost-effective and practical solutions;

 *represents the school to the student and parent community and plays a key role in marketing the school and its programmes, including meeting existing and potential parents regularly, participating in and speaking at promotional and educational events;

 *contributes to designing and implements professional development strategies that address instructional development priorities defined by student achievement and the individually identified needs of staff members;

 *contributes to developing and implements the school's academic and operational development plan; contributes to financial and physical planning, and recommends their adoption by management; ensures the effective deployment of resources to match the educational objectives of the school;

 *contributes to establishing, and overseeing the implementation of, and compliance with, operational procedures, rules, and standards relating to faculty and staff, financial operations, and other operational procedures; ensures that processes are in place and operational to provide a safe and efficient educational environment;

 *attends senior management team meetings, actively contributing to whole-school development;

 *ensures teams adhere to timelines and plan ahead of time.

 *The Head of KG will fulfil a teaching function, at least in the first years of the school's operation, as a western class teacher, functioning under the following parameters of the complete job description. (request addendum)
 
Necessary Experience:

*Two or more years' experience teaching English/ESL to international students.
*Two or more years' experience in Education Management. 
*Teaching in a mixed-ability classroom.
*Knowledge of recent developments in teaching and learning 

Qualifications:

*Bachelor's degree or higher in a related field
*PGCE, QTS, IB certification
*Native speaker of English, preferably from the UK. Native speakers from Canada, the US, *Australia, New Zealand will also be considered.
*In good physical and mental health
*A clean criminal record
*TEFL/TESOL or a CELTA is preferred 
*Must be able to commit to a two year contract
