Responsibilities:
EchoStar is seeking an Experienced HVAC Technician to oversee environmental control systems across the Cheyenne facility. The primary focus involves maintaining critical environmental standards for 24/7 data center operations and supporting building environments while utilizing an Energy Management System. Core responsibilities center on maximizing equipment reliability through hands-on diagnostics, program adjustments, and proactive mechanical contractor oversight. The role ensures operational continuity through swift emergency response, physical equipment inspections, and general facility support.
What Success Looks Like (Objectives):
* Oversee critical control systems for Data Centers and Supporting Building Environments through the Energy Management System to ensure continuous uptime
* Manage mechanical contractors to ensure peak reliability of mechanical equipment and completion of preventative maintenance tasks
* Perform physical building equipment inspections, diagnose systems, and adjust temperature control programs to align with operational goals
* Execute general facilities maintenance tasks, including plumbing, snow removal, and emergency response procedures
* Leverage predictive maintenance tools and AI-driven automation insights within building management platforms to optimize energy efficiency and system performance
Qualifications:
Core Skills and Competencies (What you'll bring):
* Technical proficiency in commercial heating and air conditioning systems, including chillers, cooling towers, boilers, computer room Liebert units, and air handling units
* Ability to read blueprints, interpret complex product specifications, and analyze engineering drawings
* Critical experience managing operations within 24/7 critical facilities
* AI literacy and application skills to monitor, analyze, and optimize automated building control systems
* Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and safety hazard identification capabilities
* Ability to lift 50 lbs and work flexible shifts, including weekends, overtime, and on-call status as business needs dictate
* Assist with snow removal when needed
Additional Qualifications:
* Effective written and oral communication skills for writing methods of procedure and coordinating team efforts
* Proficiency in Google Suite, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), and direct experience manipulating building automation systems
* Active EPA Certification / CFC Licenses
* Self-starter mindset with demonstrated skill in planning work activities, determining material requirements, and setting operational timeframes
Minimum Requirements:
* High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
* 5 or more years of relevant commercial HVAC job experience including:
* Commercial HVAC systems, including chillers, cooling towers, boilers, and Liebert units
* Energy Management Systems (EMS) and building automation controls
* Blueprint and engineering specification interpretation
