The A-Team HIV Counselor is responsible for rapid HIV testing and counseling for HMH patients and members of the community. The HIV Counselor is responsible for assembling education materials and presenting it at educational events throughout the community. Responsibilities: A day in the life of a HIV Counselor at Hackensack Meridian Health includes: * Community Outreach Services: As assigned, provides services at high schools/ colleges/ churches/ clubs and other organizations. * Provides services to clinics within the Family Health Center. * Maintains records in an organized manner. Follow NJSDOHSS regulations. * Consistently demonstrates an ability to learn new skills and routines, and to perform them properly. * Explains collection procedures and provides general testing within a timely manner. * Responds to all assigned appointments and walk-in patients. Travels off-site to assigned locations. * Represents HMH at scheduled events and actively promotes hospital and partner company services. Ensures a `good Show` at sponsored events. * Ensures all information is reported accurately in a timely manner to the appropriate entities. * Understands and follows all NJDOH policies. * Fills out all required forms accurately and in their entirety as required by the NJDOH. * Additional duties as assigned. Qualifications: Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: * Be proficient in Google and computer data entry. * Prior experience as an outreach worker is a plus. * Prior experience working with HIV patients is a plus. Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Preferred: * High School diploma, general equivalency diploma (GED), and/or GED equivalent programs. * Must be proficient in Google and computer data entry. * Prior experience as an outreach worker is a plus. * Prior experience working with HIV patients is a plus.
