Overview: Presbyterian is hiring an HIM Record Coordinator. In this role, you manage and coordinate the accurate processing, storage, and release of sensitive patient health records in accordance with Federal, State, and hospital guidelines. You specialize in birth registration operations, acting as a primary liaison between new mothers, medical staff, and external agencies to ensure timely and correct documentation. With a strong command of health information systems, you respond to public and professional inquiries, facilitate secure information exchange, and maintain detailed records that support clinical decision-making and compliance audits. Your role combines regulatory knowledge, technical expertise, and empathetic communication to uphold the integrity of patient data while fostering positive experiences for patients and providers alike. (This differential may be adjusted or discontinued based on business requirements.) Responsibilities: * Process sensitive patient data in compliance with HIPAA and Federal/State guidelines * Handle release of information requests while maintaining high customer service standards * Communicate effectively via phone, fax, written messages, and in-person interactions * Maintain organized records and demonstrate strong computer literacy * Work independently with minimal supervision * Abstract and enter birth data into NM Vital Records system * Register newborns from CNM PHS facilities and send documentation to Santa Fe and Childcare Services * Input mother and newborn details into the PHS accounting and disclosure systems * Generate and submit statistical reports to Child Support and Vital Statistics (weekly, monthly, year-end) * Update newborn name changes in media accounts * Prepare legal forms for paternity and proof of birth documentation Qualifications: * 6 months to 1 year of experience working in a healthcare setting is required, preferably in an acute care hospital environment or HIM. * High School Diploma or GED
