Responsibilities:

The Heavy Equipment Mechanic analyzes malfunctions and repairs, rebuilds and maintains power equipment, such as fossil fuel fired engine generator sets.  The incumbent will work on associated parts of the fossil fuel fired engine generator sets, to include, but not limited to, pumps, compressors, controls and PLCs.  This worker operates and inspects machines or equipment to diagnose defects, dismantles and reassembles equipment, using hoists and hand tools, examines parts for damage or excessive wear, using micrometers and gauges, replaces defective engines and subassemblies, such as transmissions, and tests overhauled equipment to insure operating efficiency. The Heavy Equipment Mechanic monitors and performs tours of all the Fuel storage tanks and respond to alarms as needed.

Pay Rate: $41.81/Hourly

Qualifications:
Essential Duties & Job Functions:
* Performs electrical/electronic maintenance on fossil fuel fired engine generator sets, to include troubleshooting, repair, replacement, and installation of these units.
* Schedules and performs preventative maintenance and service calls on equipment
* Provides preventive maintenance, emergency response, equipment start-up, and/or field modification.
* Performs required tours of the Fuel Storage Tanks on campus and respond to fuel alarms.
* Discusses with technical support problems related to maintenance or operation of equipment.
* Interprets wiring diagrams in order to locate failures.
* Plans and lays out work from blueprints, drawings, models, and verbal and written instructions.
* Uses a variety of hand tools, portable power tools, and standard measuring instruments.
* Plans, organizes work, and meets all deadlines.
* Performs a variety of tasks in any single day.
* Coordinates with other personnel in the identification of proper and correct materials, parts assemblies, and requirements for a variety of requisitions necessary for the job/task.
* Performs periodic stock inventories and prepares material requisitions as required.
* Operates company and customer owned motor vehicles and/or other equipment.
* Performs various lower classified duties such as (but not limited to) file maintenance, workspace cleanup, maintain warehouse space and telephone answering as required.
* Adheres to the company and customer policies and standard operating procedures.
* Ability to work overtime as needed
* Performs other duties as assigned.
