The Track Vehicles Mechanic performs field level maintenance tasks on major assembly and LRU replacement on the M2/M3 A1/A2 series Bradley fighting vehicle (BFV), and M7ODS Bradley Fighting Infantry Support Team (BFIST) (hull and turret). Ideal candidates will have a background in military Track vehicle systems and a strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic components. We're looking for a highly skilled and experienced Armored Vehicle Mechanic with a specialized focus on tracked vehicles. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in military vehicle systems, particularly the M2/M3 Bradley Fighting Vehicle series, M1A1/A2 M113, M577, M1964, M88 or similar complex armored or tracked equipment. You'll be responsible for the comprehensive troubleshooting, diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of our diverse fleet of heavy tracked equipment, ensuring optimal operational efficiency and minimizing downtime. This role demands a deep understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems, with an emphasis on proactive preventative maintenance and expert troubleshooting.

Responsibilities:

MAJOR JOB ACTIVITIES:

* Diagnoses and troubleshoots malfunctions and perform field level maintenance on the Track Vehicles suspension systems, steering systems, fire extinguisher/suppression systems, gas particulate systems, vehicle mounted armament, and associated fire control systems.
* Uses automated Logistics Information System to maintain equipment records, and document maintenance actions, maintains wheel, and grounding systems.
* Inspects, tests, and operates wheeled equipment to determine equipment serviceability and proper operation.
* Services equipment with fuel, oil, water, coolants, hydraulic fluid, refrigerant, and compressed air, disassembles and assembles malfunctioning accessories and components.
* Removes, disassembles repairs, cleans, treats for corrosion, assembles, and reinstalls components and accessories.
* Disposes of hazardous materials and waste in accordance with all state, local, and federal environmental standards and regulations.
* Operates, cleans, inspects, and services wheeled and construction equipment for maintenance purposes.
* Practices good housekeeping, property accountability control, prevention and safety always.
* Additional responsibilities include working with a variety of repair and test equipment including welders, torches, pressure testers and electrical testers to name a few.
* Maintain accurate records of all maintenance and repair activities, including parts used and hours worked.
* Interpret and utilize technical manuals, schematics, and repair diagrams to guide repair procedures and diagnose complex problems.
* Field level maintenance on US Military Track equipment. Including diagnostics, parts identification, requisition, and repair in accordance with technical specifications within specified repair times.
* Diagnose and troubleshoot malfunctions, perform repairs and maintenance on Bradley Fighting Vehicles' mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems. This includes engines, transmissions, suspension, steering, and potentially armament and fire control systems.
* Uses automated Logistics Information System to maintain equipment records, and document maintenance actions, maintains wheel, and grounding systems.
* Inspects, tests, and operates wheeled equipment to determine equipment serviceability and proper operation.
* Services equipment with fuel, oil, water, coolants, hydraulic fluid, refrigerant, and compressed air, disassembles and assembles malfunctioning accessories and components.
* Removes, disassembles repairs, cleans, treats for corrosion, assembles, and reinstalls components and accessories.
* Disposes of hazardous materials and waste in accordance with all state, local, and federal environmental standards and regulations.
* Repair and replace major components such as engines, transmissions, radiators, power packs, and all elements of the undercarriage (track pads, sprockets, idlers, rollers)
* Practices good housekeeping, property accountability control, prevention and safety always.
* Maintain and service vehicle systems include suspension, steering, and fire suppression systems.
* Maintain a clean and organized work environment.
* Communicate effectively with supervisors, team members, and equipment operators regarding maintenance status and potential issues.
* Diagnose and troubleshoot complex mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues on various heavy tracked vehicles, including engines, transmissions, final drives, and suspension systems.
* Perform routine preventative maintenance checks and services (PMCS), including fluid checks, lubrication, filter changes, and thorough inspections to identify and address potential issues before they escalate.

MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT USED: 

* Extensive use of basic shop equipment, diagnostic equipment, hand tools, power tools, air tools, and lifting devices.
* Steel Toe shoes are required and supplied by the worker.
* Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required in certain areas while work is being conducted. Such PPE includes, but is not limited to face mask, head, foot, hand, vision and hearing protective devices.
* Periodic use of computer systems and multi-function devices (MFD).

WORKING ENVIRONMENT: 

* Work is generally conducted in a shop environment. However, duties may involve the conduct of work in the outdoors area with a potential exposure to extreme climatic condition.
* Work requires stooping, climbing, prolonged standing, prolonged sitting and occasionally working in tight and awkward positions.
* Frequent exposure to conditions of inclement weather, extreme heat and cold, high/low humidity, blowing sand and dust, and working in confined spaces and at heights.
* A normal work week is 40 hours (5 days a week). Must be willing to work additional hours when mission requires.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES: 

* Must be able to climb up and down ladders and stairs as well as bend, twist, pull, push and lift items weighing up to 100 lbs.
* Heavy work. Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
* Must be able to work in confined spaces.
* Must be able to perform all job functions in variable weather conditions as well as in environmental conditions such as engine fumes, vehicle emissions and dust. Bradley's mechanics must be able to work with hazardous chemicals such as petroleum products and cleaning solvents.

Qualifications:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS:

* High school diploma or equivalent.
* Applicant must furnish their own serviceable, and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) compliant, tools, that are appropriate for their required duties.
* Must be able to speak, read, and write English.
* Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen.
* Must have a valid REAL ID State Driver's License with no restrictions. 
* Must be able to obtain and maintain a NACI Tier 1 Public Trust.
* Must be able to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship, such as a birth certificate or a U.S. Passport.
* Must be able to maintain driving privileges aboard the Fort Bragg Installation.
