Join Novant Health as a Genetics Counselor

Position: Genetics Counselor

Location: Cancer Clinic, Winston-Salem NC 

Employment Type: Full Time, Monday-Friday 8am-5pm

Your Role:

Counsels' patients and families about genetic diseases, genetic testing procedures and test results.

Works in association with medical director and other clinicians regarding the information discussed with patients. 

Provides access to resources for medical interventions, grief counseling, and supportive follow-up as needed.

Education & Experience: 

* Education: Graduate Degree, REQUIRED. Master's Degree in Genetic Counseling or related field. Experience: One year of cancer genetic counseling experience, preferred.
* Licensure/Certification:  Board certified or eligible for Genetic Counseling American Board of Genetic Counseling OR the American Board of Medical Genetics, REQUIRED.
* Additional Skills/Requirements (required): Possess sufficient knowledge to interpret and discuss genetic test procedures, results and genetic diseases in terms understandable by patients. Possess management skills to accept responsibility and make decisions. Promote and maintain compatible working relationships among personnel in the section. Communicate well with other health care professionals, patients and families. Effective communication skills listening, writing, talking, and reading. Ability to maintain patience and confidentiality. Ability to work efficiently and accurately. Ability to organize and plan work.
