Responsibilities:

*  Diagnosis and treatment planning

* Examining patients and making diagnoses to determine the need for surgical intervention.
* Reviewing a patient's medical history and current health status to plan the most suitable surgical procedure or treatment course.
* Evaluating and discussing the risks associated with surgery with patients and their families.

*  Surgical procedures

* Performing a wide range of surgical procedures in areas such as the abdomen, breast, skin and soft tissue, etc. 
* Following established surgical techniques and ensuring sterility in the operating room and with all equipment and instruments.
* Operating alongside other medical professionals, including surgical assistants, anesthesiologists, and nurses, with the general surgeon serving as the leader of the surgical team. 

*  Postoperative care

* Providing or overseeing the post-operative care of patients, ensuring safe and readily available follow-up. 
* Monitoring and evaluating patient progress, identifying and managing any complications or adverse reactions.
* Maintaining detailed patient records and documenting all treatments and interventions.  

*  Communication and collaboration

* Communicating effectively with patients and their families, explaining medical procedures, care plans, and addressing any concerns or questions they may have.
* Collaborating with other physicians and medical staff to coordinate patient care and develop comprehensive treatment plans.
* Working within the lawful scope of their practice and ensuring that any involvement of non-physician, licensed healthcare professionals in patient care is based on what is best for the patient. 

*  Professionalism and continuing education

* Maintaining honesty, integrity, and respect for others in all professional interactions, including with patients, peers, and colleagues.
* Keeping medical knowledge and skills current through continuous learning and adherence to professional standards and ethical guidelines. 

Qualifications:

* Board Certified/Board Eligible
* DEA/ CSR Requirements: Must possess a valid Oregon DEA, OR License and Medical Malpractice Insurance 
* Medicare/ Medicaid requirements: Must accept all Medicare/Medicaid/Tricare - no sanctions
* Certification Requirements (BLS, ACLS, ATLS, PALS, etc): BLS Preferred & NRP OR as required per SAH Medical Staff By-Laws
