Overview: Responsible for the daily operations of the DMH Gift Shop, including financial oversight, staff supervision, scheduling, and training. Serves as the primary liaison between the Auxiliary, the Volunteer Services Department, and the Hospital. Responsibilities: Essential Functions and Responsibilities Staff Supervision and Training * Provides daily supervision of the Assistant Coordinator, shop cleaning personnel, and volunteer staff * Oversees onboarding, training, and coordination of new volunteers * Ensures appropriate staffing levels to support efficient operations and high-quality customer service * Evaluates staff performance and identifies training needs Collaboration and Communication * Maintains positive working relationships with employees, volunteers, and customers, using tact and professionalism * Acts as a liaison among the Hospital, Auxiliary, and Volunteer Services Department to support collaboration and resolve issues * Supports and advises volunteer staff as needed * Coordinates and facilitates meetings with shop area chairpersons in collaboration with the Gift Shop Chairperson Operations and Administration * Recommends the annual Gift Shop budget to the Chairperson and ensures operations stay within budget * Assists with planning and implementing approved shop initiatives, including special events and sales * Monitors and maintains inventory of merchandise and supplies * Makes operational recommendations related to staffing patterns, merchandising, pricing, and volunteer coordination Decision-Making and Compliance * Makes day-to-day decisions to support effective shop operations * Consults with supervisor on unusual or complex situations * Ensures compliance with hospital and Auxiliary policies and procedures * Applies rules and guidelines consistently to maintain fairness and operational integrity Reporting and Recordkeeping * Maintains accurate records of volunteer hours and submits reports according to established procedures * Prepares reports and makes operational recommendations as needed Additional Duties * Performs other responsibilities as assigned Qualifications: To successfully perform this role, an individual must be able to meet the expectations outlined in the essential functions.
