				Overview:

Position: Food Service Manager

Salary: $60,500 up to $69,495 annually (based upon education and related experience)

Schedule: Core hours are Monday-Friday 8am-4pm, with occasional weekends to meet the needs of the program and those served

Location: Homestead Area in Pittsburgh, PA 

Job Description:
Oversee all aspects of food service operations, ensuring smooth, efficient, and high-quality delivery of meals. Manage daily workflows, staff performance, and inventory control to maintain exceptional service standards. Ensure strict compliance with all federal, state, and local regulatory requirements, including food safety, sanitation, and nutrition guidelines. Collaborate with wellness and nutrition committees to implement innovative menu options that meet diverse dietary needs. Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and customer satisfaction.

Professional Skills:

* Project Management:
Manage food service operations to ensure quality, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. Implement innovative project management practices, introduce new menu items and preparation methods, and participate in Wellness and Nutrition Committees to enhance dining experiences while maintaining sound nutritional standards.
* Fiscal Management:
Develop and manage budgets with a focus on quality, cost control, and efficiency. Maintain records of meal production, labor hours, and expenses. Oversee procurement, inventory, and equipment maintenance to ensure smooth operations and compliance with quality standards.
* Regulatory & Professional Practice:
Ensure compliance with all internal policies and external regulations, including food service standards, licensing, and School Nutrition Program guidelines. Influence team adherence to these standards and participate in credentialing and staff development.
* Professional Growth:
Maintain required training and proactively seek opportunities for ongoing professional development.
* Staff Leadership & Development:
Lead with a servant leadership approach, prioritizing professional growth and timely performance feedback. Set clear expectations, provide coaching, conduct observations, and support skill development through consistent performance plans. Manage conflict fairly and apply HR policies consistently. Foster effective communication by holding regular team meetings and maintaining open dialogue with staff.

Qualifications:

REQUIREMENTS:

* Allegheny County Food Handler's Certification required
* Bachelor's Degree in related field preferred
* State PA criminal, FBI, and PA child abuse clearances required.
* Must be able to successfully complete a pre-employment drug screening.

EXPERIENCE:

* Five years experience in food service management in an congregate setting.
* Demonstrated effective verbal and written communications experience/skills required. 
* Proficient in the use and application of Microsoft Office software programs. 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:  

          Continuously requires walking, standing, and repetitive wrist/hand movement (3/4 - 4/4 of the work day)  Often requires stooping, bending and lifting up to 50 pounds (1/4 - 1/2 of the work day).  Regularly requires pushing/pulling (1/2 - 3/4 of the workday).  Seldom requires sitting (0 - 1/4 of the work day).  Range of hearing and vision sufficient to operate standard office machines and communicate with co-workers and stakeholders in person and via telephone. Free of dependency and abuse of illegal or illicit drugs, alcohol, inhalants, or other chemical substances or controlled substances.  Seldom drives a Devereux vehicle or van.  Continuously works inside in areas that are adequately lighted and ventilated.  Some fluctuation in temperature.
