				Overview:

SHIFT:  Varied Times 5a-7p, Varied Days

Serves, prepares, assembles and delivers food according to specified menu and dietary procedures. Performs proper cleaning and sanitation of foodservice dishes, utensils, equipment, and work area. Follows all HACCP and Food Safety Regulations. Successful performance of this work will result in safe, attractive, and delicious food to patients and guests of UPH Grinnell. Provides exemplary customer service skills. Must be able to deliver, set up and serve food to patients and guests on a limited time schedule. 

Responsibilities:

* Strictly adheres to sanitation procedures and maintains a clean uncluttered work area.
* Follows daily and weekly cleaning assignments and checks out with the supervisor or lead prior to badging out. 
* Displays a friendly, caring attitude to patients, guests and employees. 
* Works as a team player and portrays a "can do" motivated attitude. 
* Demonstrates initiative to improve quality and customer service by striving to exceed customer expectations. 
* Demonstrates the ability to meet the department work schedule.
* Demonstrates the knowledge that patient and workplace safety is a priority by preventing errors, accidents and infections and reporting potential or actual concerns immediately. 
* Must be able to think independently and make decisions based on job specific requirements.
* Adheres to all policies/procedures prescribed in order to serve, prepare, assemble, and deliver palatable, attractive and safe food for all patients and guests; any deviations or adjustments are noted and discussed with the Supervisor on duty.
* Request food and supplies as needed to minimize waste.
* Appropriately handles, stores, and cleans foodservice equipment in a safe manner in order to avoid unnecessary repair or personal injury.
* Demonstrates the UnityPoint Health Values and Standards of Behaviors as well as adheres to policies and procedures and safety guidelines.
* Demonstrates ability to meet business needs of department with regular, reliable attendance.
* Employee maintains current licenses and/or certifications required for the position.
* Practices and reflects knowledge of HIPAA, DNV, DIA, OSHA and other federal/state regulatory agencies guiding healthcare.
* Completes all annual education and competency requirements within the calendar year.
* Is knowledgeable of hospital and department compliance requirements for federally funded healthcare programs (e.g. Medicare and Medicaid) regarding fraud, waste and abuse. 
* Brings any questions or concerns regarding compliance to the immediate attention of hospital administrative staff.  
* Takes appropriate action on concerns reported by department staff related to compliance.

Qualifications:

Education: 

High School Diploma or GED preferred.

Experience: 

Previous food service experience or class preparation preferred.

Prior experience with kitchen equipment preferred.

Licensure/Certification:

Silver Level National Career Readiness Certificate preferred.

DMACC Workforce Training Academy Healthcare Support Certificate preferred.

Valid driver's license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons.

Knowlege/Skills/Abilitys:

Ability to read, write, speak and comprehend English fluently.

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide simple mathematical tasks.

Use of usual and customary equipment used to perform essential functions of the position.
