Job Title:             Food Safety Intern

FLSA Status:       Hourly-30 hrs/week

Reports To:        Dir. Food Protection and Regulatory Affairs

The Food Safety Intern provides direct support to our food safety and fresh foods teams.  Focus of the position is to assist in maintaining and improving Festival Foods food safety, regulatory compliance programs and supporting our fresh foods team with the most accurate regulatory documentation. The selected candidate will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the accuracy and integrity of data related to food safety standards, nutritional information and product labeling.

Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

* Recipe, Ingredient & Nutritional Maintenance
Manage and update over 6,000 active Fresh Foods recipes by maintaining accurate ingredient listings, updating nutritional profiles, and performing regular recipe audits to ensure consistency and regulatory compliance.
* Data Import & System Oversight
Support the import and oversight of data related to ingredients, suppliers, and recipe records to maintain accuracy across internal databases and ensure alignment with food safety standards.
* Program Support
Provide assistance in the maintenance and execution of ongoing food safety programs, including food safety assessments, recall management, temperature monitoring systems, regulatory inspections, etc.
* Data Collection & Metrics Development
Contribute to the design and implementation of systems for collecting data and tracking key food safety metrics, supporting reporting and continuous improvement initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS

* Currently pursuing a degree in Food Science, Nutrition, Environmental Health, Public Health, Biology, or a related field
* Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
* Exceptional problem-solving skills and analytical skills
* Basic understanding of food labeling regulations and nutritional analysis is a plus
* Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with data systems or food labeling software is a bonus
* Excellent communication and collaboration skills
* Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
* Effective interpersonal and influencing skills
* Experience in a professional business environment
* Excellent verbal, written, and communication skills

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

* Sitting at a computer 50% of the time
* Bending, stretching, and occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs. is required

WORK SCHEDULE

The Food Safety Intern is an hourly position scheduled at 30 hours per week.  The work schedule will be assigned by the Dir. Food Protection and Regulatory Affairs.  The hours of operation for this position are subject to change based on the business needs.
