Overview:
Established by the Sisters of the St. Francis in 1924, CHI Health Good Samaritan is a 268-bed regional referral center in Kearney Neb. At CHI Health Good Samaritan you'll find an advanced level trauma center that also offers AirCare emergency helicopter transport and an ambulance program providing long distance and local 911 service. Among our many other services are cardiac care including open-heart surgery, a level II neonatal intensive care unit, a nationally accredited cancer center, comprehensive neurosurgery, advanced orthopedic program, and inpatient/outpatient mental health services at our free-standing Richard Young Behavioral Health facility.
CHI Health Good Samaritan AirCare is the longest operating original air ambulance service in Nebraska. AirCare is also one of the safest, fastest and most advanced emergency medical services in the state. AirCare is based at Good Samaritan, a verified ACS Level II Trauma Center and AHA Chest Pain and Stroke Center. Being hospital-based, also allows staff immediate access to lifesaving products like blood and critical care medications that can be carried onboard.
Responsibilities:

* Restraints and seclusion
* Emergency preparedness
* Nursing Process: Assessment:
* Assesses patient and family needs. Incorporates standards of care and nursing diagnosis to include both observation and body system assessment.
* Uses the nursing process to provide continuum of care based on observation and documentation.
* Collaborates with patient, family, multidisciplinary team, in assessing care needs.
* Nursing Process: Planning/Implementation:
* Collaborates with patient, family, and multidisciplinary team to plan age specific care across the continuum.
* Includes problem solving, planning for care, and education as needed to prevent adverse outcomes.
* Nursing Process: Evaluation:
* Evaluates patient/family response to care, education and multidisciplinary interventions.
* Evaluates progress toward defined goals/outcomes, and revises goals/interventions as needed.
* Nursing Process: Problem Solving/Anticipates Needs:
* Responds to changes in patient condition utilizing accepted principles of nursing practice.
* Follows up on internal customer concerns according to policy and utilizing best practice.

Compensation: Base rate + shift differential
Incentives: up to $15,000 sign-on bonus
Qualifications:
Education:
* Graduate of an accredited nursing program
Licensure and Certifications:
* Active Nebraska (or multi-state compact) Registered Nurse License.
* Active Nebraska EMT or Paramedic License
* BLS, ACLS and PALS required upon hire. Instructor preferred.
* NRP required within five months of hire.
* ENPC required within one year of hire.
* Transport Professional Advanced Trauma Course (TPATC) required within one year of hire. Previously known as TNATC (Transport Nurse Advanced Trauma Course)
* CFRN required within two years of hire.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
* Three years critical care/ER experience required.
* Ability to work quickly and efficiently in physically demanding situations requiring frequent bending and position changes in small areas as well as lifting and transferring of patients and equipment.
* Ability to communicate clearly and concisely under stressful situations as they relate to patient care in the critical care transport environment.
* Ability to wear required flight helmet for extended periods of time with and without night vision goggles.
* Ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail when planning and performing professional nursing care.
* Ability to see and hear in order to perform assessment duties.
