Global Communities is seeking a Financial Specialist for the anticipated project. This two-year program will contribute to the food and nutritional security of vulnerable communities in the Moskitia and the Atlantic Coast of Honduras through environmentally sustainable, resilient, and culturally relevant solutions. 

The Financial Specialist will be responsible for the financial management of productive investments generated through the project and activities. This will include, but is not limited to, facilitating, with the project's technical team, the formulation, implementation and closing of Agrocoastal projects (business plans), nutrition and hygiene plans, and school feeding plans, including the allocation of public and private resources with the purpose of achieving competitive enterprises that are capitalized through fixed investments (works and goods), working capital, marketing, etc. We are looking for passionate, dedicated professionals to help us build the world we envision: one of expanded opportunity, where crises give way to resilience and all people thrive.

Responsibilities:

* Collaborate with technical team members, including the Agribusiness Specialist, Environmental Specialist, Social Specialist, Community Health and Nutrition Specialist, and field technicians to develop and implement the tools required to formulate the business plans of agroforestry subprojects, nutrition and hygiene plans, and school feeding plans. 

* Train and provide follow-on support to field technicians for the implementation of business plan tools and oversight. 

* Develop and implement systems to track the mobilization, investment, disbursement, and where applicable, return on investment of resources in support of agroforestry, community health and nutrition, and school feeding projects. 

* Review and approve the planning and reporting of weekly activities performed by personnel under his/her charge, and report weekly summaries of relevant activities to the general coordinator. 

* Coordinate activities with strategic allies in the geographic area under his/her responsibility and with project field technicians.  

* Ensure the achievement of goals and objectives and the quality of the project's technical assistance. 

* Collaborate with the Monitoring and Evaluation unit to prepare periodic reports (monthly, quarterly and annual) to be sent to project management stakeholders at the agreed intervals. 

* Provide administrative and disciplinary oversight of the personnel under his charge. 

* Support the evaluation of existing women-led microenterprises. 

* Lead the work of the team members under his/her charge, implementing processes of planning, supervision, monitoring, and evaluation of their roles, responsibilities, and achievements 

* Propose and provide technical and administrative assistance to beneficiaries and strategic allies.   

* Attend to any additional activity entrusted to him/her. 

Qualifications:

Key requirements 

* A bachelor's degree in the area of administrative sciences, finance, accounting, economics, international trade, or business AND  

* A master's degree in any thematic area related to the project's investments. 

* At least five (5) years of experience in the financial sector with an emphasis on agribusiness in the public or private sector. 

* Verifiable experience in the design, formulation and/or financial analysis of agricultural business plans. 

* Verifiable experience in the design and/or facilitation of financing schemes or instruments for small and medium agricultural producers in rural areas. 

* Proven experience working with private financial institutions. 

* Verifiable experience in application procedures, approval, and follow-up of agricultural loans in IFPs. 

* Verifiable experience that evidences knowledge of the regulatory framework of the national financial system. 

* Verifiable experience in the use of computer programs for financial analysis. 

* Negotiation of agreements and contracts at any level. 

* Knowledge and use of computer programs: word processors, spreadsheets. Office management, internet browsing and e-mail management. 

* Good verbal and written communication skills. 

* Leadership and ability to coordinate with technical teams from different disciplines. 

* 100% proficiency in Spanish (spoken, reading and writing). Knowledge of the Miskito, Tawaka, Pech and/or Garífuna language will be an advantage, but not is not required.

* Good negotiation and problem-solving skills.
