Job Summary:
The Field Engineer assists and supports the Project Engineer, Project Manager and Superintendent on assigned projects. The position works under direct supervision, performs routine daily activities and gathers and distributes information. The Field Engineer must be a flexible and adaptable team-player, as well as have strong communication and client service skills. Provide technical engineering information to company supervision and crafts to insure construction work complies with all appropriate standards, codes and specifications.
Duties and Responsibilities:
* Perform survey layout for construction control lines and elevations for accurate measurement and correct installation of materials
* Track contractual changes and report changes to Project Engineer for payment
* Assist in the preparation of project schedules, quantity tracking, and labor cost reports
* Research and resolve drawing interpretations, problems, and errors
* Verify that all completed work complies with applicable codes, drawing and specifications
* Maintain a good knowledge of the contract specifications, documents and the scope of work, including subcontracts and purchase orders
* May provide subcontract coordination
* May provide supervision to Field Engineers, and technical direction to crafts, and/or Superintendents assigned to area of work to insure work is completed in proper sequence
* Perform required design for temporary project works. (i.e., formwork, scaffolding, lifting beams, support of excavation, barge loading diagrams, critical lift plans etc.)
* Receive, review, forward and track status of submittals
* Initiate, prepare, review, track and distribute RFIs
* Assist in management of project permit process
* Assist in preparations of bid packages and procurement
* Update construction schedule based on project team input, Trade Contractor progress and materials delivery
* Change management systems, including soliciting, receiving, reviewing, and preparing quotations and change orders
* Track and inspect material deliveries
* Assist in preparation of monthly owner project status reports, as required
* Attend project meetings and record meeting minutes
* Assist in project close-out
* Communicate and enforce Skanska Safety and Health Management Program

Education and Experience:
Required Qualifications:
* 2+ Years experience in construction field management
* Technology proficient, with the ability to adapt to new innovations and processes
* Knowledge and efficiency with Microsoft Office products
* Requires broad theoretical job knowledge typically obtained through advanced education
* Bachelor's Degree - Construction Management, Engineering, or similar or 8 years of equivalent experience
Preferred Qualifications:
* Perfered Procore Conctruction Management certification
* Prefered experience with broad job knowledge of technical or operational practices within electrical construction.
* Preferred CMIT certificate
* Working knowledge of design and drawing software to including, but not limited to, Revit, AutoCAD, AutoCAD Civil 3D, NAVIA, and Bluebeam
* Working knowledge of BIM 360 and BIM 360 Plan
* Working knowledge of Prolog and Primavera P6
* Experience with JD Edwards for timekeeping, project costs, and other project financials
* Strong written and verbal communication skills including experience utilizing email, phone, and Microsoft office platforms
* Understands basic management approaches such as work scheduling, prioritizing, coaching and process execution.
Competencies / Skills:
Has a basic understanding of:
* Building and Construction Knowledge - Planning: Applies building and construction knowledge, utilizing experience and current developments in the industry to prepare detailed construction sequence plans including all necessary material, equipment and labor.
Has limited understanding of:
* Business Development - Field Management: Develops relationships with clients that facilitates likelihood of further work or expansion of scope. Works with project manager to develop strategies and action plans to target and pursue business development opportunities.
Travel Requirements: Less than 10%
Work Environment/Conditions: This job is performed both in the office and in the field on an active construction site. Field work requires experience and confidence working in and around heavy industrial equipment and systems, which includes average to loud noises, ability to traverse uneven grounds, and possible outdoor weather conditions. Vision requires the capacity for close and far vision, the ability to adjust focus, depth perception and peripherial vision. Activities and responsibilities require frequent sitting (often working on a computer), frequent driving, flying, walking, standing, light lifting, bending, and reaching. Due to computer usage, there may be repetitive motions of the hands and wrists.
