				Overview:

Surpassing network limitations of the past, our Wireless Development team is building and enhancing the country's first cloud-native, standalone 5G wireless network. This is the foundation of a connected world flexible enough to satisfy all the social, economic and transformative needs of today and the future.

Responsibilities:

Candidates must be willing to participate in at least one in-person interview, which may include a live whiteboarding or technical assessment session. 

As a 5G ORAN Field Engineer, you'll be out in the field keeping our facilities and equipment in top form by maintaining multiple locations in your assigned area. You will be in charge of post construction checks, single site verification, commissioning, site acceptance, testing and maintaining cell sites and edge and local data center installations. You will also be evaluating our network coverage and finding ways to make it even better.

Key Responsibilities:

* Operate, maintain, and perform preventive maintenance on wireless network cell site equipment, ensuring adherence to DISH installation standards and safety protocols.

* Deploy and troubleshoot CU-CP and CU-UP functions via VMware Telco Cloud; configure CSRs and validate site readiness including GPS, backhaul, and breaker setup.

* Conduct equipment inspections, verify power/site configurations, and confirm antenna placement (azimuth, tilt, color) to ensure optimal performance.

* Use EXFO tools to perform single site verification and resolve issues related to VSWR, PIM, RET, fiber connections, and faulty radios.

* Collaborate with RF, construction, microwave, and transport teams to address integration, commissioning, and post-launch issues, resolving network tickets within SLA.

* Maintain accurate inventory, complete audits and reports, provide process improvement feedback, and serve as a technical leader across teams.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience:

* 4-7 years of experience in telecommunications with direct experience in RAN, 4G LTE cell site troubleshooting, and testing
* Telecom experience such as T1, DACS, or OMP

Skills and Qualifications:

* Skilled in testing protocols for transport, RF, base station turn-up, commissioning, and validation; proficient with troubleshooting antenna systems using spectrum analyzers and related test equipment.

* Experienced in optimizing, maintaining, and troubleshooting base station equipment, radio transmitters, fiber network gear, including dark and lit fiber testing with OTDR and fiberscope tools.

* Familiar with PIM, VSWR, MIMO, RET, and remote radio heads (fiber and LTE); hands-on experience with equipment from Lucent, Motorola, Nokia, Samsung, or Ericsson (LTE/CDMA technologies).

* Knowledgeable in DC power systems (Galaxy, Alpha, Lorain), telecommunications electronics, and computer support including hardware troubleshooting; able to read technical drawings (as-builts, MOPs, construction).

* Strong problem-solving, communication, and multitasking skills; capable of independent and team work, flexible to work nonstandard hours to meet business needs.

* Physically able to perform demanding tasks (standing, crawling, working at heights, lifting up to 70 lbs.); willing to travel domestically up to 25%.

Preferred Education and Experience:

* A technical degree in Electronics or Telecommunications or a combination of military and industry experience will be considered
* Intermediate knowledge of general computer applications, experience with Google Suite is a plus
