UnityPoint Health - Fort Dodge

FTE: 1.0 (Full-time, 40 hours per week

Responsibilities:

* Provide excellent customer service by warmly greeting patients and families, actively listening, and offering support for questions and concerns.
* Coordinate communication by relaying updates between patients, families, and healthcare team members, and managing inbound phone calls professionally.
* Manage appointments by scheduling, rescheduling, and canceling visits according to clinic procedures.
* Handle patient information by collecting and verifying demographic, insurance, and billing data for accurate records and claims.
* Support digital patient engagement tools like MyUnityPoint and text messaging with professionalism and compliance.
* Perform payment processing including collecting fees, issuing receipts, and reconciling daily transactions.
* Ensure a welcoming and clean clinic environment by collaborating with support services and adhering to opening/closing procedures.
* Maintain compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, CLIA, and organizational policies, safeguarding patient information.
* Exhibit strong teamwork and communication, participating in meetings, staying informed, and supporting team goals.
* Carry out general administrative tasks as needed to support clinic operations and patient care.

Qualifications:

Education:

*  High School or Vocational School graduate 

Experience:

*  Previous medical office experience preferred.

*  Previous experience with an electronic health record or medical office software preferred.

*  Previous experience coding diagnoses and procedures with ICD09-CM and CPT preferred.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

*  Ability to demonstrate strong customer service skills.

*  Ability to effectively enter information into a variety of computer programs.

*  Ability to understand and apply guidelines, policies and procedures.

*  Ability to interact effectively with physicians, health care team members, individuals and members of their support systems.

*  Ability to communicate effectively with people of diverse professional, education and lifestyle backgrounds.

*  Writes, reads, comprehends and speaks fluent English

*  Microsoft Office - basic computer skills.

*  Customer/patient focused

*  Critical thinking skills using independent judgment in making decisions

*  Knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology.
