The American Heart Association has an excellent opportunity for a Seattle-based Event Planning Development Coordinator to provide support and lead event planning for our Alaska team and events.
Based out of Seattle, the Development Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating, implementing, and evaluating fundraising events in Alaska, including the Anchorage Heart Run and Walk, Anchorage Go Red for Women event, Fairbanks Heart Walk, and Fairbanks Go Red for Women event, along with various smaller ancillary events throughout the year. The position also provides data management and operations support to the Alaska-based Development Team. The Development Coordinator should live in the greater Seattle metropolitan area near a major airport. The Development Coordinator may work from their home office in the Seattle area and/or work from the American Heart Association's Seattle office.

Responsibilities:
* Plans, manages and implements assigned events. Includes all aspects of event planning: event design, vendor selection and management, contract negotiation, visual innovation, budget management, resource optimization and execution excellence. Leads event day execution.
* Researches, secures, manages and evaluates vendors to provide needed services at assigned events within purchasing and operating guidelines and within budget. Solicits competitive bids for all event needs; proactively finds ways to cut costs.
* Manages customer and campaign data utilizing multiple American Heart Association systems accurately, timely and completely in accordance with established guidelines.
* Manages overlapping timelines, demonstrating strong multi-tasking skills and an ability to work on multiple projects/events simultaneously.
* Ensures the collateral, signage and visual needs of American Heart Association's events in Alaska are met and adhere to American Heart Association branding guidelines.
* Proactively ensures timely communication with internal and external partners and customers, supporting collaboration to achieve shared goals.
Qualifications:
* Three (3) years or more of relevant work experience that includes:
* Ability to independently plan large-scale events.
* Experience working with multiple databases, including entering, managing and reporting on data accurately and timely.
* Solutions-oriented approach with the demonstrated ability to proactively anticipate needs, offer solutions and act quickly with a clear sense of ownership.
* Effective oral and written communication skills.
* Effective interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to develop collaborative working relationships internally and externally.
* Strong attention to detail with superb organizational skills.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
* Ability to travel to Alaska four times per year.
* Ability to travel to the Downtown Seattle office up to twice per month, or more as needed.

* Bachelor's degree may be preferred in supporting the required level of skill, knowledge and experience required.
* Demonstrated ability to recruit, train and manage volunteers with success in delegating and accomplishing goals through empowering volunteers.
* Knowledge of American Heart Association's mission and programs.
