				Overview:

Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking an Environmental Staff Scientist with 0-3 years of experience to perform wetland and stream delineations, protected species and habitat characterizations, GPS data collection, Arc-GIS application, preparation of permits and reports in support of federal, state and local permits. Take responsible charge for collecting field data, interpreting data and preparing technical reports. Work with a team of environmental professionals including professional engineers, surveyors, and planners. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, be a self-starter and possess an entrepreneurial spirit, work independently and with team members. Daily activities may include site reconnaissance, conducting environmental due diligence investigations and environmental site assessments, oversight of soil boring and monitoring wells installations, collection of soil and groundwater samples, and laboratory data management. 

This position may require travel and is expected to have a 30% - 60% balance between field and office work, which will vary based on project needs. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor of Science degree in biology, ecological science, environmental science, environmental engineering, or related scientific discipline. This position is primarily located in the Raleigh, North Carolina office; however, depending on the ideal candidates location other offices such as Wilmington and Charlotte may be considered.

Responsibilities:

* Perform Wetland Delineations in accordance with the Army Corp of Engineers Wetland Delineation Manual. May require travel.
* Assist in the preparation of applications for wetland verifications and permits to regulatory agencies.
* Assist in the preparation and assemblage of natural resource reports and supporting documentation for to facilitate site development and redevelopment.
* Facilitate permit procurement from jurisdictional agencies.
* Assist in the preparation of Jurisdictional Determinations for review by the Army Corp of Engineers.
* Assist in the preparation of Threatened and Endangered Species Habitat Evaluations, and correspondence with regulatory agencies and permit management.
* Assist in the preparation of Environmental Impact Statements.
* Identify and delineate jurisdictional waters of the U.S. and wetlands by identifying vegetation, soils, and hydrology.
* Preparation of written correspondence - Outside agencies, client, attorney, contractor, etc. Also includes preparation of technical reports.

Qualifications:

* A Bachelor's Degree in Ecological Science, Biology, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or related scientific discipline.
* 0-3 years of similar experience.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
* Familiar with the capabilities of Arc-GIS and/or Auto-CADD.
* Self-starter, can work independently and with team members.
* Basic knowledge of wetlands and natural ecological systems.
* Basic understanding of the hydrology of natural ecological systems.
* Ability to read, write and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.
