Overview: Responsibilities: Environmental Manager Skanska USA Civil Reports to: EHS Area Manager, EHS Director, VP of EHS, Project Manager, Project Executive, VP of Operations Department: EHS Location: Where position will be posted FLSA Classification: Exempt Employment Status: Full time Job Summary: The Environmental Manager is responsible for the integration of environmental services into the business practices and compliance with regulatory requirements. The Environmental Manager oversees responsibilities of all project activities related to environmental services and has direct interaction with EH&S Staff, Superintendents, Project Manager and Project Executive. Duties and Responsibilities: * Responsible for compliance with all environmental regulatory requirements applicable to specific activities * Lead documentation/deployment/management of environmental compliance programs * Work in conjunction with the Project EHS Manager to oversee the documentation of all accidents, safety violations, and unsafe conditions/activities * Develop and customize employee and craft environmental training/orientation program and implement this program company wide * Conduct work area surveillance inspections, property damage and personal injury investigations * Review documentation to insure all required records and reports are complete, accurate and submitted per established procedures and implement appropriate corrective action as required * Serve as Project spokesperson on environmental and natural resource issues * Develop an ongoing cycle of environmental topics, and communicate and ensure that these topics are covered in the regularly scheduled job-site meetings * Review and coordination of the filing of all accident and environmental, Legal Issues, General Liability reports * Insure investigations are properly conducted and reported to appropriate Corporate entities * Work with the Environmental, Health & Safety team to provide top level expertise on environmental subjects * In instances where there is non-compliance, shall immediately implement and maintain corrective actions * Perform inspections and monitor daily to confirm compliance with environmental requirements * Participate during spot checks and environmental compliance inspections * Responsible for the management and oversight of all environmental issues relating to construction * Implementation and compliance with all environmental aspects of the contract (cultural resources, air quality, noise and traffic control, all waste management, etc) * Frequent onsite inspections * Frequent local, national and international traveling * Support the authority in providing communications to the community * Communicate and enforce Skanska Safety and Health Management Program * Demonstrate commitment to an Injury-Free Environment through own actions and mentoring others * The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by employees assigned to this position. Duties and responsibilities may be added or changed as deemed appropriate by management at any time Education and Experience: Required Qualifications: * Bachelor's Degree - in Occupational Safety / Health, or an engineering discipline degree or equivalent combination of training and related experience. * Advance knowledge of job area typically obtained through advanced education combined with experience. * Practical knowledge of project management. Preferred Qualifications: * Computer knowledge (MS Office) * Knowledge of Federal, State and City environmental regulations and standards * Strong written and verbal communication * Ability to multi task * Ability to lead a team * Maintain discretion and confidentiality * Ability to understand and follow directions * Good time management and organizational skills Competencies / Skills: Has demonstrated proficiency in: * Communications: Creates and delivers communications that express ideas clearly and concisely using appropriate mediums. Targets the amount, form, level of detail, and content of information to the needs of the receiver/audience. * Compliance Inspections: Conducts compliance inspections to ensure hazardous conditions or at-risk behaviors are identified and corrected and that project teams are following EHS policy and procedures. Implements and maintains corrective actions to remediate non-compliance. * EHS Performance Indicators: Maintains, tracks and trends all leading and lagging indicators and provides environmental, health and safety (EHS) statistics necessary for submitting reports and communicating performance to all affected groups. * EHS Regulations: Keeps current on all EH&S regulations and utilizes all federal, state and local requirements, industry standards and governing regulations to provide guidance and effectively communicate changes to affected groups * EHS Tools and Technology (USB 0,2, USC 0,1): Utilizes digital platforms, tools and systems for tracking and trending EH&S metrics, creating EHS plans and report documentation * EHS Training: Develops, implements and delivers training to field operations employees about Skanska's EHS programs, policies and procedures as well as local and federal requirements and regulations. * Incident Management - Project-level: Conducts and/or manages incident investigations ensuring that accidents involving personal injury, property damage, environmental impacts, etc. are thoroughly investigated, analyzed, and documented. * ISO Standards (SHEMS): Implements and communicates the requirements of * Skanska's Safety, Health and Environmental Management System (SHEMS) and ensure conformance to the ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 Standards. * Plans and Specifications - EHS: Reads and interprets client/owner specifications and EH&S requirements. Outlines and makes recommendations to ensure compliance with all EHS regulations and standards, Skanska policies and all applicable federal, state, and local laws. * Recordkeeping: Receives, tracks and maintains all EH&S related documentation (Incident reports, training records, monitoring and calibration records, SHEMS documentation, etc.) * Risk Management: Identifies potential risks related to operations, specifications, scope, and project execution. Develops plans and strategies to mitigate risk throughout the life cycle of a project. Has a basic understanding of: Building and Construction Knowledge - EHS : Applies building and construction knowledge to properly assess all EH&S risks and exposures during all phases of the project progression. Travel Requirements: Less than 10% Work Environment/Conditions: This job is performed both in the office and in the field on an active construction site. Field work requires experience and confidence working in and around heavy industrial equipment and systems, which includes average to loud noises, ability to traverse uneven grounds, and possible outdoor weather conditions. Vision requires the capacity for close and far vision, the ability to adjust focus, depth perception and peripherial vision. Activities and responsibilities require frequent sitting (often working on a computer), frequent driving, flying, walking, standing, light lifting, bending, and reaching.
