				Responsibilities:

GFT is seeking an Entry Level Transit & Rail Engineer to join our Transit and Rail Team in Schaumburg, IL. This role follows a hybrid work model, requiring a minimum 3 days of onsite office attendance.

What you'll be challenged to do:

The Transit & Rail Designer will support the design and development of transit and rail projects, contributing to track alignments, facility layouts, and other engineering solutions throughout all phases of design and construction.

In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following: 

* Contribute to the design and development of industrial freight rail and transit projects.
* Participate in project meetings, coordinating with multiple disciplines to advance design solutions.
* Assist project engineers and managers in designing track alignment geometry and intermodal facility layouts.
* Perform engineering calculations, prepare drawings, and conduct quantity takeoffs to support project designs.
* Engage with the full design process, from initial concept through construction.
* Maintain organized project documentation and work areas to ensure design accuracy and efficiency

Qualifications:

What you bring to our firm:

* Currently enrolled in an ABET-accredited Civil Engineering or related degree program, pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree.
* 0-3 years of experience in transit and railway engineering experience. 
* Demonstrated interest in transit and railway engineering through prior internship or applied coursework experience.
* Familiarity with MicroStation or AutoCAD and working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
* Self-motivated with a proactive approach to learning.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

What we prefer you bring:

* Experience with AutoCAD, MicroStation, or OpenRoads. 
* Familiarity with rail engineering principles and practices.

Compensation:
The salary range for this role is $70,000 - $90,000. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location.
