Initial placement within the salary range is based on an individual's relevant knowledge, skills, and experience. Job Qualifications
Candidates must meet one of the following minimum qualifications:
* Hold or have previously held a Merchant Marine rating as a Qualified Member of the Engineering Department (QMED). An inactive document is acceptable if it is less than five years old and has not been suspended or revoked.
* Successfully complete the Engineer-of-the-Watch qualification program, with at least 90 days of service aboard the riverboat, and meet one of the following experience requirements:
* One year of marine engineering experience aboard cruising vessels.
* Two years of marine engineering experience aboard dockside riverboats.
* Three years of related experience in the maintenance and repair of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and/or mechanical systems.
Job Responsibilities
* Comply with all departmental and property policies and procedures related to guest service standards.
* Ensure adherence to all applicable regulations, including those set by the Louisiana State Police Gaming Division, U.S. Coast Guard, ABS Consulting, and other relevant agencies.
* Conduct routine inspections and monitor all vessel systems, identifying and correcting discrepancies.
* Perform tasks as assigned by the Engineer-in-Charge.
* Carry out maintenance and repair work on the vessel.
* Monitor onboard equipment and systems to ensure optimal performance.
* Maintain all vessel machinery in a high state of readiness and report any repair needs to the Engineer-in-Charge.
* Keep accurate departmental records, logs, and engineering documentation in accordance with policy.
* Ensure compliance with OSHA standards and all applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
* Actively participate in marine operations initiatives.
* Maintain strict confidentiality in all company matters.
Qualifications:
Additional Job Requirements
* Must have prior experience as a licensed QMED/Oiler or higher; a current license is not required.
* CPR and Firefighting training are mandatory.
* Demonstrated excellence in customer service and interpersonal communication.
* Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
* Strong leadership and team-building capabilities.
* Highly detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
* Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word.
* Effective collaborator with the ability to communicate across all levels of the organization.
* Capable of remaining calm and composed in emergency or high-stress situations.
