Overview: Emergency Services Manager UnityPoint Health- Fort Dodge FTE: 1.0 (Full-time, 40 hours per week) Shifts: Monday-Friday shifts; flexible depending on department needs Will be responsible for managing all aspects of the department, including productivity, staffing and compliance. Successful candidate will be able to problem solve, think creatively, communicate effectively, and manage changing circumstances. Responsibilities: Responsibilities: Responsible for activites and operations within the Emergency Department (ED) and will have organizational responsibility for the ED staff and budget. Responsible for organizing staffing and administering all personnel in one or more functional organizational units. Responsible for providing functional advice and control to all units of the organization within their discipline. Activities of subordinates are highly technical and varied; supervision may require complex scheduling and functional guidance in a very complex environment The Emergency Department Nurse Manager is a member of the core stroke team requiring stroke education annually. Planning: Develop annual goals and objectives. Develop strategic plan. Organizing: Develop and revise structure to meet goals. Budget/Controlling: Plan and manage the effective and efficient use of human resources. Prepare and operate under a budget. Directing/Evaluating: Develop system to measure the effectiveness of the Emergency Department Ensure the Emergency Department is in compliance with rules and regulations. Manage day to day operations. Evaluate employee performance. Staffing/Scheduling: Identify and develop staffing plans. Ensure the Emergency Department is adequately staffed. Training: Develop key personnel Coordinating: Ensure proper communications and plans are coordinated with other areas. Decision Making: Ability to make frequent decisions and take actions of a difficult nature involving several related functions. Objectives involve resolution of highly complex problems using factual information and management principles. Requires ability to make frequent technical decisions and take action of a difficult and complex nature to achieve assigned objectives. Responsible for developing problem solutions using established principles. Qualifications: Education: Bachelor's Of Science Degree in Nursing. Master of Science in Nursing preferred. Experience: Two (2) years ER staff nurse experience. ER supervisory experience preferred. License(s)/Certification(s): Current RN Licensure in State of Iowa or applicable compact state. Must be licensed in state of residence. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Must demonstrate clinical knowledge and skills required for area of assignment. Ability to exercise good judgment and maintain effective interpersonal skills. Must be able to solve problems, think creatively, communicate effectively and manage changing circumstances. Ability to delegate effectively. Must demonstrate a high level of integrity. Other: Regular office equipment which may include computer, telephone, fax machine, audiovisual equipment.
