Responsibilities:

Position Summary:

The Emergency Room Technician (ERT) is a member of the healthcare team who assists in the delivery of total patient care under the direction of a Registered Nurse. In accordance with the mission and philosophy of Dignity Health, the Emergency Room Technician at Sequoia Hospital is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility for the data collection and teamwork needed for assisting in providing care for patients and their families who access services to the hospital through the Emergency Department. Incumbents in this position shall comply with all applicable laws and rules including the Dignity Health Standards of Conduct and Dignity Health policies and procedures that apply to his/her job responsibilities, seek guidance when in doubt, promptly report any potential or suspected violation of Dignity Health Standards of Conduct, Dignity Health policy or procedure or applicable laws/regulations and when requested, assist Dignity Health personnel in investigating all allegations of violation. When called upon, the incumbent shall assist in risk evaluation and work collaboratively with facility/entity leaders to implement, monitor and mitigate risk corrective plans outlined by the Compliance program.

Qualifications:

Minimum:

* Minimum one (1) year experience as EMT1, OR,  one (1) year recent experience in an acute care facility performing basic nursing procedures required.
* Current certification as EMT1 or equivalent , or certification as Ortho Tech with one year acute care experience in a hospital Emergency Room., or Certified Nursing Assistant with one year acute care experience required. (CT EMT or CT ORTHO or CT CNA).
* Medical, Surgical, Orthopedic experience in an acute care facility may be considered in lieu of Emergency Room experience.
* High school graduate or equivalent is required.
* Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification for healthcare providers (CT BLS) required.
