The Emergency Department Technician provides essential clinical and clerical support under the supervision of Registered Nurses and physicians. This role supports patient care through non-invasive clinical tasks, patient monitoring, transport, and maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient care environment.

Responsibilities:

* Collaborate with RNs and the interdisciplinary care team to support individualized plans of care and optimize patient outcomes 
* Accurately obtain, monitor, and document vital signs and clinical data in the electronic medical record (EMR) 
* Deliver non-invasive clinical and clerical support within the Emergency Department under RN and physician direction 
* Perform EKGs, assist with patient transport, and support activities of daily living while ensuring patient comfort and dignity 
* Prepare, maintain, and ensure proper functioning of clinical equipment and treatment areas 
* Maintain precise, timely documentation in the electronic health record in accordance with regulatory standards 
* Promote a safe, clean, and compliant care environment following infection prevention and safety protocols 
* Effective clinical communication and strong interdisciplinary teamwork 
* Ability to perform in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment with sound judgment 
* High attention to detail with strong clinical documentation practices 
* Demonstrated commitment to patient-centered care, safety, and service excellence 

Qualifications:

Education:  

* High school diploma or GED required.

Experience:  

* At least one year of clinical experience - Preferred.

License(s)/Certification(s):  

* Required (Upon Hire or Preferred): 
* Emergency Medical Technician - Basic (EMT-B) certification  
* Accepted from: Iowa Department of Public Health (IADPH), Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH), or Wisconsin Department of Health Services (WI DHS)  

* Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) (preferred upon hire; required within 30 days)  
* Required Within 90 Days of Hire: 
* Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification  
* Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB) training  
* Mandatory Reporter Training (as applicable to state of practice):  
* Child Abuse Reporting (IA and/or IL)  
* Dependent Adult Abuse Reporting (IA and/or IL)
