What you can expect from this role

* Join the busiest ED in the state of Idaho
* Level 4 Trauma/Stroke; Level 1 STEMI
* Team-based nursing model (1:4 ratio)
* Self-scheduling unit in 6 week blocks
* Dedicated ED pharmacist and 24-hour social worker
* Continuing education scholarships - including conferences, certification, licensure

* Certification pay available
* Full-time (1.0 FTE), evening shift opening (1130-0000) 3 x 12 hour shifts, plus 4 hours will be dedicated to administrative tasks each week.  

Qualifications

* Education: Bachelor's of Nursing Degree
* Experience: 3 years' experience; emergency and/or psych experience highly preferred.
* Licenses/Certifications: Current RN licensure from the State of Practice and Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider Certified through American Heart Association or American Red Cross

Responsibilities:

* Leads or oversees bedside patient care for patients with acute psychiatric symptoms, those on involuntary protective mental holds (IPMH), and serves as liaison for other ED RNs who require support for behavioral health interventions, under the direction of ED Clinical Provider.
* Identifies safety concerns and institutes measures to provide a safe environment and provide appropriate assessment, intervention and evaluation of patients with consideration of developmental achievements in these patient populations.
* Demonstrates passion for educating and mentoring staff on best practices for care of behavioral health population.
* Supports Code Grey events, near miss elopements, and challenging de-escalations and conducts subsequent staff debriefings to share learnings.
* Educates staff on behavioral de-escalation and psychopharmacology.
* Educates staff on behavioral health diagnosis and possible interventions for each diagnosis.
* Supports staff during crisis that could cause emotional impact.
* Maintains behavioral contracts when appropriate, provides limit setting, behavior modification plans and aggressive behavior education for staff.
* Provides restraint education, reviews and ensures appropriate resources are available.
* Evaluates and supports Emergency Department Mental Health Technicians/CNAs.
* Partners with Security team on safety plan implementation and debriefs as appropriate
* Leads interface between patient and law enforcement and mental health agencies.
* Assures completion of appropriate paperwork as part of the designated examination process. 
* Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
