Responsibilities:

What you get to do:

* Join a tech company that makes solutions and products that directly protect and save lives of firefighters and industrial workers around the world everyday, as well as the environment
* Lead a diverse team of highly engaged, highly skilled embedded software engineers on projects that involve a variety of technology stacks and product types 
* Firefighter equipment, gas detectors and industrial worker gear with various sensor technologies (e.g. thermal imaging, environmental sensing, location, infrared/lasers)
* IoT style ecosystem of physical/digital products with wireless and wired connectivity (e.g. AWS, cellular, GNSS, BLE)
* Safety critical software (SIL, security)

* Influence and shape development and execution of our gas detection-related strategy for

toxic, poisonous, combustible gas and/or flame, refrigerant, chemical leak detection

products, where the value provided to customers exponentially increases with ecosystem (cloud and

device/sensor) level features, data gathering and insights, and wireless Internet of Things-style connectivity.

* Have a focus on software engineering as a discipline and the workflow/throughput/predictability of your team that promotes engineers on your team honing their technical and leadership skills and team dynamics, ensuring team output and delivery as well as opportunity for them to maximize their talents and potential for their own career development 
* Work with peers in an embedded software leadership structure to hone and align on a larger vision beyond a single team, promoting group growth that improves both present and future delivery of customer value for MSA

Special Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:

* Delivered working software in leadership capacity on a team that delighted the customer and the company
* Understanding of the software lifecycle and navigating the challenges and complexities that arise during a typical development cycle
* Experience interacting with breadth of internal/external stakeholders that software teams deliver to and cooperate with in the process of new product development, especially within an ecosystem of inter-communicating products
* Demonstrated ability to provide leadership, guidance and constructive feedback in a way where others feel empowered and motivated to grow and operate in their own capabilities
* Strong communication skills (verbal, written, presentation)

Education and Experience Required:

* BSCE, BSEE or relevant technical discipline, preferably from an ABET or similarly accredited program
* At least 5 years of industry experience in software engineering
* (Preferred) Master's degree in computer-related field, business or management-related field

This role is posted at two levels: 

* Team Lead I: At least 1 year of experience in software-related technical leadership or team leadership/people management role
* Team Lead II: At least 3 years of experience in team leadership/people management role
