The END Tech I assists in performing specialized electroencephalographic (EEG) procedures, including test set up, electrodeapplication, and ensuring patient safety during clinically significant events, and other related dutiesassociated with neurodiagnostic procedures. The END Tech I is an entry level position to train andsupport the EEG unit. This position will work towards becoming registry eligible, and registered inelectroencephalography in preparation for the END Tech II position.This position provides direct patientcare and may be required to access and administer medications within their scope of practice andaccording to state law.

Responsibilities:

* Communicates effectively with the patient and explains test procedures.
* Sets up and calibrates necessary equipment.
* Reviews records and interviews patients to obtain additional information.
* Operates various non-invasive monitoring devices.
* Records observations and analyzes test data to ensure appropriate data is collected.
* Assists END Tech II's in advanced procedures for epilepsy, wada, depths, electrocerebral silence
* (ECS) and evoked potential (EP).
* Maintains lab equipment, ensures room is clean, institutes quality control procedures.
* Ensures labs are properly stocked and supplies ordered.
* Maintains patients safety through communication to other patient care staff.
Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
* Ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.

* Knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on

* his or her assigned unit.

* Knowledge of the principles of life span growth and development and the ability to assess data

* regarding the patient's status and provide care as described in the department's policies and

* procedures manual.

* Ability to assimilate data from various sources.

* Ability to display active listening and verbalize empathy.

* Ability to quickly learn new procedures and process.

* Ability to develop relationships with patients, guest and coworkers.

* Knowledge of HIPAA regulations to insure patient information is guarded and respected.

Qualifications:
QualificationsRequired
* EEG registry eligible within 24 months of hire and completed within 36 months of hire.
One of the following:
* Graduate of an accredited NDT program.
* Completion of the UEI program.
* One (1) year of applicable experience working in a patient care environment.
* One (1) year of employment as and EEG Technologist in Training with the University of Utah.
Licenses Required
* Current RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential through the University of Utah Health RQI system.  The eCredential is to be obtained within 30 days of hire.
* Additional license requirements as determined by the hiring department.
