At Novant Health, our Licensed Electricians play a vital role in supporting patient care by ensuring all electrical systems within our healthcare facilities operate safely, reliably, and in compliance with life safety standards. From maintaining emergency power systems to troubleshooting critical infrastructure, this role directly impacts the safety of patients, visitors, and clinical teams every day.
Position includes participation in an on-call rotation (including weekend coverage during assigned rotation)

Responsibilities:
* Perform advanced-level electrical work to maintain and extend the service life of hospital facilities, utilities, and infrastructure.
* Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair commercial electrical distribution systems.
* Maintain and service switchgear, motor control centers, emergency generator sets, and transfer switch equipment.
* Diagnose and resolve issues with A/C equipment and related electrical components.
* Apply life safety, electrical, and building codes in all work performed.
* Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical service manuals.
* Utilize electrical testing devices to ensure safe and accurate system performance.
* Support a safe work environment and respond to urgent facility needs during on-call rotations.
Qualifications:
Education
* High School Diploma or GED, required.
* Two (2) year college degree in a technical science/trade or equivalent work experience, required.
* Three (3) year apprenticeship in the electrical trade, required.
Experience
* Five (5) or more years of experience in commercial electrical distribution system installation and maintenance, required.
* Previous hospital or healthcare electrical experience, highly preferred.
Licensure/Certification
* City/county journeyman's card and/or electrician's license from the state of employment, required.
* North Carolina Driver's License (NCDL), required.
Required Skills
* Strong applied knowledge of life safety, electrical, and building codes.
* Advanced troubleshooting skills for electrical and electronic systems.
* Extensive experience with emergency generators and transfer switch systems.
* Proficient in the use of electrical testing devices.
* Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical manuals.
* Valid driver's license in state of employment.
Preferred Skills
* Knowledge of mechanical equipment operation and repair.
* Proficiency with personal computers and related programs.
* Ability to detect and respond to changes in equipment or machine sounds.
