Electrical Design Engineer II - This position is based in Irvine, CA at our headquarters and candidates are required to live within a commutable distance from the office. This is a hybrid opportunity requiring at least 3 days onsite/2 remote.

The Position:

Research, plan and design mechanical and electromechanical products and systems. Direct and coordinate the activities involved in the creation of engineering documentation and manufacturing of in-flight entertainment systems (IFE).

Formulating Engineering Designs

* Validate: Create feasibility studies of customer/OEM requirements. Generate layout and expand to viable working layout in conjunction with all PANASONIC, OEM and customer specifications and/or requirements.
* Concept Development: Translate functional requirements into design concepts using models, schematics, and simulations.
* Technical Detailing: Define specifications, materials, tolerances, and performance standards aligned with industry norms.
* Cross-Disciplinary Integration: Incorporate mechanical, electrical, or software components seamlessly, depending on the system.
* Iterative Testing: Use prototyping and validation cycles to refine designs while documenting findings methodically. 
Explaining Complex Concepts Simply
* Layered Explanation: Start with the big picture, then drill down based on the audience's comfort level.
* Storytelling: Frame the IFE design challenge and solution in a narrative-why it matters, what functionality is delivered, what problem it solves, and how.
* Jargon-Free Language: Replace engineering shorthand with accessible vocabulary, especially when presenting to executives, clients, or community members.
* Establish engineering design schedules.
* Adhere to all Panasonic design process/standards and align with quality standards.
* Maintain detailed records to establish and verify design evolution.
* Participate in all pertinent design reviews i.e. PDR, CDR and FAI. Initiate and facilitate all internal technical reviews.

The salary range of $97,000 - $162,000 is just one component of Panasonic's total package. The final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to individual's knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this role may be eligible for discretionary bonuses and incentives.  

What We're Looking For:

* BSME in mechanical engineering or BSEE in electrical engineering.
* Minimum 5 years' experience in IFE industry and/or aircraft industry.
* Proficiency with CAD software (Pro/E-wildfire, Pro-Cable, RSD, windchill) and MS Software.
* Proficiency with Siemens design applications (Teams Center, NX, Capital) 
* Awareness and concept of Quality Management, Design for Manufacturability, Total Quality Control and ISO 9000.
* Theoretical knowledge of Program Management practices including schedule management and ability to review schedules for critical path and task oriented relationships.
* Must be capable of clearly identifiable contributions to the success of a project. Provides technical consulting to peers or immediate manager.
* Develops solutions to clearly defined problems which have similar precedents available. Problem solving analysis involves selecting the best alternative method or process from among several existing alternatives or based on evaluation of identifiable factors.
* Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Makes significant decisions including implementations and program requirements. A certain degree of creativity and latitude is expected.
* Requires planning projects for which they are responsible. Requires planning for logistics and external/internal dependencies across multiple disciplines.
