Overview:
This position is physically located in Balad, Iraq
The Electrical Senior Airfield is responsible for performing preventive and corrective maintenance on runway lights, taxiway lights, beacons, obstruction lights, illuminated signs, and other special airport lighting systems in accordance with local codes, Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) standards, and other requirements. Other responsibilities include inspecting and improving electrical facility installations, maintenance, and repairs; and maintaining motors, relays, circuit breakers, regulators, and other electrical components of the airfield lighting and mechanical systems. Monitors and tests various electrical systems. Coordinates inspections for contractors performing work in renovations and new construction projects. Locates electrical underground electrical utilities for various projects. Ensures personnel exhibit superior workmanship and focuses on a quality product. Follows Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) to ensure tasks are accomplished safely and with an emphasis on quality. Provides direct oversight for junior Electricians. Verifies actual hours worked by personnel to accurately report manpower expenditure. Ensures personnel complete tasks in accordance with local Safety, Environmental, and Health directives. Provides leadership and mentors junior personnel to develop appropriate skillsets. Addresses customer concerns in a prompt, professional, and courteous manner. Uses a Computer Maintenance Management System (Maximo and or GFEBS) to correctly capture data related to maintenance work orders, preventative maintenance inspections, and emergency/urgent customer requests. Ensures personnel accurately capture data on maintenance work order requests and preventive maintenance inspection forms for upload into the work order database.

* Performs preventive and corrective maintenance on runway lights, taxiway lights, beacons, obstruction lights, illuminated signs, and other special airport lighting systems in accordance with local codes, Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) standards, and other requirements.
* Monitors airfield circuit quality and initiates repairs prior to loss of circuit operation.
* Monitors airfield systems to prevent loss of lighting control.
* Conducts project review and continual training of assigned personnel
* Assists in inspecting maintenance, repair, and installation of electrical facilities and develops improvements to facilities
* Installs, modifies, and repairs lighting, mechanical, and control systems in airport and airfield facilities.
* Inspects, troubleshoots, and repairs the Remote Weather Information System (RWIS) and subsystems.
* Performs preventative maintenance inspections and tests on motors, relays, circuit breakers, and other electrical components.
* Maintains and repairs motors, relays, circuit breakers, and other electrical components of the lighting and mechanical systems.
* Maintains accountability and serviceability of assigned toolsets and equipment
* Conducts tests and inspects equipment, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance
* Records and reports all faults, deficiencies, and other unusual occurrences, as well as the time and materials expended on work orders
* Ensure compliance with UFC, NEC, Performance Work Statement, and applicable codes and regulations
* Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
* Minimum Qualifications: Education/Certifications: One-year related experience may be substituted for one year of education if degree is required.
* Associates Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field preferred
* Education can be substituted with work experience on a year for year basis
* Must have a valid driver's license
* Experience:
* Minimum of six (6) years Electrician experience
* Must have an excellent understanding of all safety directives and policies regarding the operation of equipment
* Certification:
* Must have a valid Journeyman Electrician License
* Masters' Electrician License
* American Association of Airport Executives (AAAE) preferred
* Skills
* Thorough knowledge of Airfield Electrical Codes
* Ability to manage multiple job sites and priorities
* Ability to communicate, interact and work effectively and cooperatively with all people including those from diverse ethnic and educational backgrounds
* Ability to recognize the importance of safety in the workplace, follow safety rules, practice safe work habits, utilize appropriate safety equipment and report unsafe conditions to the appropriate administrator
* Must have basic computer skills
* Working Conditions:
* Indoor and/or outdoor environment with very adverse and harsh conditions (i.e., hot, dry, dusty, desert environment with average temperatures of 30 degrees in the winter and 130 degrees in the summer months).
* Includes some industrial production environment conditions as well.
* Physical Requirements:
* Medium work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. If the use of arm and/or leg controls requires exertion of forces greater than that for sedentary work and the worker sits most of the time, the job is rated for light work. Work may require heavy lifting, stooping, climbing, prolonged standing, prolonged sitting, and working with or in areas where a potential could exist for exposure to physical, chemical, or biological agents.
* Employee use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required for some situations. PPE includes, but is not limited to, head, foot, torso, respiratory, vision, and hearing protective devices.
