Responsibilities:

Position Summary:

* The Education Coordinator performs and provides coordination for department functions and processes to ensure regulatory compliance in issues of orientation, safety, staff development, and patient/family education.

* In coordination with the Clinical Nurse Educators, Department Managers and the Director, the Education Coordinator implements educational programs, equipment training, and clinical outcomes evaluation; creates and maintains organizational systems that support the department in those areas.

* Adult learning principles will be utilized to appropriately match the educational and professional needs and requirements of the staff in providing necessary and complementary educational programs.

* The position is responsible for collaborating with the Clinical Educators to provide staff development in a dynamic manner to meet needs for professional growth and development.

* The position is aligned with community education resource networks and provides support to programs designed for the education of patients and their families across the lifespan. 

* Ensures a professional and responsive atmosphere by greeting patients, visitors, staff, and physicians promptly and courteously. Refers to each individual by name when appropriate.

* Demonstrates knowledge of State and Federal Regulations and Joint Commission standards.

* Demonstrates sensitivity to the customer's learning history and needs.

* Collaborates with clinical educators and/or department managers to develop lesson plans based on assessments, focusing on all domains of learning. Performs ongoing assessment as indicated.

* Analyzes setting, environment, history, culture, and other information, including age-specific criteria, to determine appropriate education/learning activity or project

* Develops and prioritizes project or educational learning activities based on customer needs and service line activity.

Qualifications:

Minimum:

* High School Graduate or GED 

Preferred:

* Two (2) years recent related experience in hospital or health related field; experience in adult education
* Bachelors Other Health Education or Health related field
* A high degree of proficiency with computer software programs and operating skills such as the Google platform and Microsoft Office
