Overview: Allied Consultants, Inc. is an Austin-based firm which has for 33 years been a premier provider of technical and business professionals to clients in Texas. We are currently seeking an experienced ETL Data Warehouse Developer to be a key resource on a technical services team. Responsibilities: Performs highly advanced (senior-level) ETL/data warehouse development work as part of a small, but vital data management team. Diverse responsibilities include data modeling, ETL, data quality, development of data sources, performance testing, and maintenance responsibilities around existing data warehouse. Will serve as a role model for less experienced developers. Works under limited supervision of the Data Management and Support team lead with extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Duties and Responsibilities Essential Functions: * Performs advanced ETL/data warehouse architectural work including data warehouse design, data modeling, and metadata design * Works closely with business SMEs to reverse engineer the rules that govern business processes, corresponding data streams, and associated source systems * Translates business needs into high level technical designs for business intelligence solutions; applies rapid iterative development methodologies as appropriate to ensure the solution keeps pace with business needs * Perform in-depth, thorough, and accurate reporting or ad hoc analysis as needed * Contributes to the long-term vision of the ETL/enterprise data warehouse (EDW) by delivering Agile solutions * Develops efficient ETL for loading the data warehouse and makes timely data available for business users * Assists in capturing processes, procedures and other metadata in documentation; ensures that documentation is well organized, complete, and appropriate for the audience * Troubleshoots, supports and maintains the data warehouse and associated tools used by the team * Contributes to and follows best practices established by the governance council, data stewards and enterprise data officer * Develops and improves continuous release and testing processes * Designs, deploys, and manages standardized, centralized data sources for agency reporting * Helps to establish best practices for development, testing, migration and error handling * Implements and maintains business intelligence security best practices including those related to HIPAA * Participates in the training of junior developers * Performs other duties as assigned Other Duties and Responsibilities: * May interact with outside vendors providing data * May evaluate and recommend action on testing and certification of software and hardware upgrades * May assist in evaluation of third-party service providers Essential Work Behaviors: * Communicates respectfully and works harmoniously with all co-workers, customers, and vendors. * Provides exceptional customer service. * Is flexible; able to work under pressure and able to adapt to change; and able to work on multiple problems and tasks. * Takes initiative to prevent and solve problems. Critical thinking is a process of forming reasoned opinions through observation, information collection, interpretation, analysis, inference, evaluation, and other skills necessary to successfully meet performance standards of the job. * Experience with PeopleSoft HRMS or Finance packages preferred * Experience with ERD Modeling & Maintenance * Knowledge of business intelligence security best practices including those related to HIPAA. * Knowledge of dimensional modeling using star schemas with multiple fact tables * Knowledge of RDBMS architecture and troubleshooting is desirable. * Knowledge of Kimball dimensional models * Knowledge of health care claims data * Knowledge of data mining tools and methods * Knowledge of analytic programming tools and methods (SQL, OLAP, Tableau) * Knowledge or exposure to the R programming language Professional Expectations: * Attends all meetings, meets delivery deadlines and is available during ERS office hours. * Logs in and remains on agency Jabber during work hours. * Attends remote meetings with camera on unless prior arranged for camera off. * Coordinates leave and vacation with ERS lead. * Must dress appropriately for a business/business casual environment. * Communicates respectfully and works harmoniously with all co-workers, customers and vendors * Provides exceptional customer service. * Is flexible; able to work under pressure and able to adapt to change; and able to work on multiple problems and tasks. * Takes initiative to prevent and solve problems. Qualifications: Minimum (Required): Years Skills/Experience Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, statistics, economics, finance, library science, or related business field 3 Hands on experience in data warehouse development 3 Hands on experience in ETL development (creating automated processes and troubleshooting issues) 3 Hands on experience moving and manipulating large data sets. 2 Hands on experience dimensional modeling for data warehouses Preferred (Optional): Years Skills/Experience Experience in health/life insurance, accounting and financials, or investment data related activities. Experience with data tools (i.e. Alteryx, Visual Studio, SSIS, MSSQL) Experience with Azure and agile iterations. Experience with ERP applications (i.e. PeopleSoft, Safyr, etc.) Knowledge of health care claims data
