				Overview:

***This position will be physically located in The Marshall Islands in support of LOGCAP*** 

Responsible for the overall safety and occupational health program for the site. Construct and ensure implementation of Sheppard policies and procedures that help prevent harm to workers and property. Oversee equipment inspection requirements, monitors work practices, and creates policies for workers to follow that minimize job-related hazards. All other duties as assigned to ensure the success of the contract and its safety program.

Responsibilities:

This position description is subject to change at any time as needed to meet the requirements of the program or company.

* Serves as primary safety advisor and responsible for Sheppard BMC contract Safety and Occupational Health program.
* Monitors compliance with safety requirements and maintains Occupational Health and Safety Records.
* Organize and schedule required occupational physicals/vaccinations, applicable hearing exams, and provide safety training to personnel following company and OSHA guidelines.
* Provides monthly and quarterly safety training to all personnel as required and necessary.
* Conducts safety committee meetings, as required.
* Reports and investigates all incidents immediately. Completes appropriate documentation and reports. Leads and assists supervisors in the investifation of incidents to determine root cause and implement corrective actions.
* Ensure incident corrective actions are followed up on and completed.
* Participate in all safety inspections and audits and ensure discrepancy corrections are completed in a timely manner.
* Conduct Safety and Occupational Health program orientation for all site new hires.
* Ensure all applicable safety policies, procedures, and forms are available to all personnel upon request.
* Oversees department SDS compliance.
* May be required to complete administrative duties for site management.
* Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

* Minimum Qualifications: Education/Certifications: One year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required.
* Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Chemistry, Engineering, Biology or Technical certification in Occupational Health, Industrial Hygiene, Industrial Safety,
* Environmental Science/Management.

* Experience:
* Minimum of four (4) years of experience in environmental compliance, OSHA compliance, ISO experience, and hazardous waste management and pollution prevention.
* Knowledge of Overseas Environmental Baseline Guidance Document (OEBGD), Department of Defense (DoD) environmental regulations, and US Army Safety and
* Environmental Regulations, including Federal OSHA and EPA regulations.
* Military background and training beneficial.

* Skills:
* Ability to instruct small and medium groups of people, Competent in computer operations to include Microsoft Office; Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
* Must have a strong ability to work independently as a member of a robust team.
* Able to manage others to complete assigned task

* Working Conditions:
* Must be capable of working in an extreme weather conditions with temperatures exceeding 120 degrees Fahrenheit. Indoor and/or outdoor environment with very adverse and harsh conditions (i.e., hot, dry, duty, desert environment with average temperatures of 130 degrees in the summer months).
* Includes some industrial production environment conditions as well.

* Physical Requirements:
* Medium work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
* Work may require heavy lifting, stooping, climbing, prolonged standing, prolonged sitting, and working with or in areas where a potential could exist for exposure to physical, chemical, or biological agents.
* Employee use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required for some situations. PPE includes, but is not limited to, head, foot, torso, respiratory, vision, and hearing protective devices.
* Must comply with all Fire and Safety Regulations and post policies.
