Responsibilities:
CHI St. Alexius is looking for ED Tech to join their busy Emergency Department team!
The Emergency Department Technician works under the supervision of the Clinical Supervisor and in collaboration with other health care providers. The Emergency Department Technician assists registered nurses and Physicians in the delivery of individualized care of Emergency Department patients, according to unit policies and procedures.
What You'll Do:
* Adheres to the CHI St. Alexius Health mission, vision, and values to foster a compassionate, healing environment that provides physiological, emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, families, and visitors.
* Answers patient call lights at the bedside, addressing patient needs within individual scope of practice.
* Performs and documents patient hourly rounds as directed by policy and procedure to assist in maintaining patient safety on the unit.
* Serves as a safety attendant/patient sitter for those patients needing 1:1 observation.
* Cross trains to Life Safety Monitor Technician role.
* Safely transports patients within and outside of the department as directed by ED registered nurses and/or physicians within individual scope of practice.
* Assists registered nurses and physicians with procedures by obtaining needed supplies. Ensures patient rooms are stocked regularly with needed equipment and supplies as directed by unit policy and procedure.
* Assists with ED patient room turnover as directed by medical center policy and procedure.
* Follows all policies and procedures related to infection prevention/hand hygiene to reduce the spread of illness.
* Adheres to all documentation policies and procedures per individual scope of practice.
* Performs point of care glucose meter testing, adhering to medical center policy and procedure.
* Performs 12 lead EKG as directed by ED registered nurses and/or physicians.
* Performs clerical duties as assigned.
* Assist with specimen collection and disposition per individual scope of practice and medical center policy and procedure.
Skills:Excellent communication skills are required because of the constant communication, both oral and written, with patients, families, visitors, and medical center staff. Accountable for own conduct and promotes and supports positive working relationships among Emergency Department staff, and between other disciplines and staff. Maintains patient confidentiality at all times. Basic computer skills, telephone etiquette, and basic receptionist skills required. Ability to work in fast paced environment, while providing excellent customer service is required.
Qualifications:
Education:High school graduate or GED
Certification, Licensure, Requirements: Basic Life Support certification within orientation period and meets re-certification as required. Must be listed on the Nurse Assistant Registry operated by the North Dakota Board of Nursing or Certified Nurse Assistant certificate issued by the North Dakota Department of Health. Non-violent crisis intervention training within orientation period and meets re-certification as required.
Preferred:Hospital experience working as a NA/CNA, EMT/Paramedic training/experience
